Question:
Does anyone know if any Ins. Companies are covering the Lap Band Surgery?

I have BCBS of TN, but I live in TX. I recieved my first denial because I have an exclusion for "investigation and experimental procedures". They consider the LAP BAND to be investigational. They will not cover even though medically necessary. I plan to send in appeal. I have "their" definition for Investigational from my Evidence of coverage. There is no exclusion for Obesity and/or Procedures. Since it is recently FDA approved they still place it in this exclusion. Good Luck!

I have Aetna HMO insurance and I called today and they told me that with a PCP referral (in network)it WOULD be covered.
