Question:
Enlarged lymph nodes in my lungs.....

Well, in the midst of pre op testing, they found that the lymph nodes in my lungs are enlarged. The radiologist said that it is probably sarcoidosis, but we have to do a lot more testing to find out for sure, and it could be anything from an infection to cancer. Needless to say that the waiting is horrible. I was just curious if anyone else has run accross this problem and if it interfered with having the surgery. Also, if anyone had enlarged lymph nodes, what did it turn out to be. None of my other glands are swollen. I'm only 23. I just really hope it's nothing life threatening. Anyway, thanks in advance! Amber...my prayers are with you. I had non-Hodgkins' lymphoma (stage 3) back in 1995 - well before my WLS this past July. Actually, my diagnosis came out of a lump in my neck that they did a fine-needle biopsy on. I had enlarged lymph nodes in my abdomen, but those were found subsequent to the lump in my neck. <p> I certainly hope that your problem turns out to be a lot less serious than mine was. (BTW, I had 6 months of chemo and have been cancer-free since then) Please e-mail me through my profile if you want to talk...JR

Hi Amber- I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis in 1995 and have been living symptom-free since I was treated with Prednisone. The only fallout from it was that I gained about 70 pounds from the steroids. If it's Sarcoid it shouldn't interfere with your surgery unless you are having breathing difficulties, which I didn't. If it turns out to be Sarcoid and you need some info or advice on having it, just email me and I'll write back. [email protected]. Good luck to you. - Mike
