Question:
Does anyone know what the out of pocket costs are for medicare and RNY

I know the hospital deductible must be met and that is $812. But as far as the rest I have no clue. Anybody have any clue? Thanks    — Melonie L. (posted on July 26, 2002)

I had Lap RNY on May 6th. My out-of-pocket expenses for medicare with no other insurance were: $0 on pre-op evaluations (as long as your deducitble has been met for doctor visits); $812 to meet the hospital deductible; $310 to the surgeon (this may vary, I suppose, by the amount that the surgeon writes off); and $65 to the anesthesiologist. Hope this helps you some. I was shocked to see the bill form my surgery. It was over $78,000! Glad I did not have to pay a 20% on that one!! Good luck! Hugs, love, and peace - Mel
