Question:
I'm 4 weeks post op & I think I either overate or ate too fast...

I'm in the most pain of my life, Having my sons didn't even hurt this much. What can I do to make it go away?????    — Amy M. (posted on December 10, 2002)

You didn't describe your pain but if you have a horrible pain in your chest it could be that something is stuck. First instinct would be to take a small drink to wash it down but that will only make it worse. If it is in fact an issue of eating too fast or too much then I'm not sure what to tell you. If it were me and I was hurting that much I think I would try and make myself throw up. I am probably going to get screamed at for that comment but that is what I would do personally. It's not something I would make a habit of though, so I will make that clear. Anyway, I hope that helps. And I hope I didn't make too many people mad. :)

Bless your heart! I am almost 7 weeks post-op and I have been where you are! That happens to me if I overeat. I usually first try to throw up to relieve the pain, and/or lay down with cool rags on my neck and face. Of course I am usually in the fetal position. (lol). I do hope that you get to feeling better. It will finally pass. Toni

This has happened to all of us early on. You do feel better if you throw up, so I have been told, but I was never able to throw up. so, I had to wait it out. Sometimes it would last 2-3 hours. Its from eating too much or too fast or sometimes just something that doesn't sit right. The first time it happened to me at about 4 weeks out, it was reheated salmon. Then it was a cabbage roll with ground beef. I'm now 10 months post-op and it actually happened the other night to my surprise, from a reheated fajita! Try going out and buying some papaya enzyme-you can find it at GNC. Chew 3 or 4 of them-my nutritionist suggested it to help with digestion. It does help some. Others suggest drinking some hot tea but I have found that liquids on top of that pain does not help. Just time.

I didn't chew a spaghetti noodle enough once, and it stuck somehow in my pouch. Pain was incredible, I felt like I was having a heart attack. AFter 30 minutes, I vomited up a one inch piece of spaghetti. My guess is that you didn't chew something enough. No suggestions except to wait.
