Question:
Taking a sleeping pill for my second Sleeping test.....

I am going tomorrow for my second sleeping test, the technician told me that I can't take any medication, but I don't want to go back for a third one, first because it's horrible I had scabs in my head for a month, we had to drive for nearly two hours, and I just couldn't sleep with all those wires all over me and some guy looking in a camera. I also sleep with all the pillows in the world because of my GERD, and Hiatel Hernia and they only gave me one little pillow. Anyway do you guys think that will afect the study if I take an over the counter sleeping pill?.What was your expierence , it will really help me to know it.Thank you all, and God Bless you.    — Rosa M. I suspect the pill might have an effect on the study. Just to be sure, you should ask your doctor. Good Luck.

Please, please do not take a sleeping aid. I would pack up my own pillows so that you are as comfortable as possible. They certainly would not object. I have had a total of 3 studies over the past 3 yrs and what seems to work for me is to make sure I am more tired than usual. I will stay up really late for 1-2 nights before the test and maybe that will help you. Good luck !

You can take your own sleeping pills or have Doc prescribe one. You must sleep in order to be hepled.

I wouldn't suggest it... I took a nite-time cold medicine with sleep aid in it, and while the tech knew about it and didn't say too much, it did affect the test....I know from sleeping partner that I indeed toss, turn, talk, snort, choke, etc all night, but the sleeping aid knocked me out so much that I never even moved all night, and the sleep test wasn't accurate...which, if you are needing the sleep apea as a co-morbitity, or you are really concerned about an accurate test, isn't a good thing.... Just my opinion, but maybe you could ask your doctor what he/she thinks.
