Question:
Can Anyone recommend a surgeon for the Laparoscopic gastric by-pass surgery in SC
I need to find a surgeon here in SC (Greenville) or at least near by (NC,GA, etc) If anyone could help me I would greatly appreciate it. I need the doctor to take the next step, — Wanda S. (posted on August 7, 2000)

Wanda, congrats on your decision to have WLS. Dr. Champion
works out of Atlanta, which is not too far from you.He has done my lap RNY
and many others. He is a highly skilled surgeon with a great deal of

Dr. Champion is in Atlanta/Canton Georgia and he makes it very convenient
for out of state patients. I live in Louisiana and had lap rny in November
of 1999. You meet him and have post op tests on Thurs, surgery on Friday
and go home on Sunday. (if you have surgery in Canton, GA) Follow up blood
work is done by your pcp and mailed to him and, of course, he is available
by phone for any problems or questions. Fortunately, I had no problems
afterwards. I highly recommend him. Good luck to you. Pre-op 315 Currently

There is also a Dr. Edward Waits out of Atlanta who performs the Lap RNY.
There is a search engine on this website to look up Dr.'s in your area as

My surgeon in Columbia does lap. Dr. Tribble and Dr. Prickett. You have to
go to the information meeting first before you can get a consult, but they
are quick my consult is tommorow about 2 weeks after the meeting. And the
office staff is so nice. I am happy that I meet them prior to the consult.
There are also a numberof others in the SC area. look on this site under

I am from the Greenville, SC., area. I am currently have a surgery date of
May 31, 2003. My surgery is Dr. Byrne at MUSC in Charleston. My research
has indicated he is has the most experience and track record for bypass
surgery.
There is Dr. Bour in the Greenville area, but from what I have noticed is
that he is more interested in a up front deposit of $2500.00, before he
will even go forward with anything. Being someone who works for doctors
myself...I find someone who asks for money upfront does NOT get my vote!
Anyway...give Dr. Byrn a try...he is worth the wait to get into him.
