Question:
I'm having trouble finding a doc who will take cash.

I know there are good surgeons out there who will take cash. I have 20k saved up for the surgery and can't wait to have it done. I will travel anywhere in the country to have the surgery. So far have not had any luck with the docs listed on the message board as accepting self-pay. Does anyone know of other surgeons who might accept cash?    — Anna L. (posted on March 21, 2002)

I will be having surgery in San Antonio TX with Dr. Dana Reiss. She is not in the database, but her partners are, Dr. Selinkoff and Dr. Pilcher. Their telephone number is 210-614-3370. I am paying cash for both the surgeon and the hopital. For self pay they have set up a fixed fee with the hospital, so even if there are complications, the price is the same. They have quite a waiting list for people using insurance, but put self-pay patients in quicker. Their website is www.sabariatric.com. My surgery is 4/11. Good luck!

There are a few people that are self-pay that have used my doctor. His fees are pretty reasonable. If I'm not mistaken, I believe that the entire hospital stay and surgery is 17,000. His name is Dr. Barry Haicken. He's located in Largo, FL. and does the surgery just a few miles away in Clearwater.
