John, didnt have any leaking when I my RNY but the same thing happened to me after my C-section. Just make sure the site where it is leaking from is kept clean and dry and it will eventually stop. Call your Dr. if you have any redness, swelling, fever, pain or if the fluid starts to smell bad. That's all a sign of infection. Good luck on your journey!

Hi John, I had the same thing happen to me after I had my g tube in, come to find out had a slight infection there and I was running a fever so they had to clean it out and then everything got better! So if you notice any redness, and if it still hurts like heck then be sure to call your surgeon just to be on the safe side, cuz it might not be anything serious, but then you don't want to end up with it being that either-k! And especially if you are running any type of fever over 100.1. Good Luck to you!

Oh yeah! I remember those days very well. I had open, and after the surgeon removed my tubes I leaked fluid. and had to put pads on it and keep it clean like they had it in the hospital. it's annoying but it had to be done. I suggest you wear old shirts that you can recover in, cause it will mess the good ones up. also laying down was a chore in it self. I had some bad days trying to get comfy, I layed on my back for the longest time. and I was always a side person. I had a hospital bed delieved to my home so positioning it to my liking was good. but laying on my side was out of the question. Hope you find a way to get comfy. take care

Hi John, I also didn't have any leaking on the open RNY, but I did after I had a hysterectomy. I ended up going back to the Dr. and found out it was something to do with the fatty tissue that had surfaced. The Dr. had to put a stitch or two in that area and everything was fine. I asked if that would have ever quit leaking, and he said no. I would just suggest giving the Dr. a call and go from there. After the RNY I too had such a time getting comfortable. I soon found that pillows helped alot. Hope this helps in someway. God's BLesings to you on your new journey.

I did not leak, but my husband did after his tummy tuck (we both had open RNY). He was leaking so bad that we had to tape a sanitary napkin along the incision and change it a few times a day (soaks up a lot better than gauze). Put tape all along the sides so the leaking is kept to a minimum. He would put a t-shirt on under his binder to keep everything in place (also saved him from excessive itching). At 5 weeks out, his leaking has decreased but not diminished. It will go away! Take care and good luck!
