Question:
Did you ever hear of not knowing if your insurance has accepted your claim ?

The girls in the Dr.'s office said that i will not fing out if my insurance has accepted my claim until a week before my surgery date. They said this is something new. I don't think they meant my specific type of insurance because they were telling this to everyone. Has anyone ever heard of this?    — lbruzzese (posted on August 26, 2004)

Wow! That doesn't sound right! Are you given a date before hand? If not, how are you supposed to prepare? A week is not much time to get yourself ready for major surgery! I would give the insurance company a call. I knew 3 months in advance of my surgery date that I was approved! It would have been terrible to find out a week before that it was cancelled! How depressing! CALL YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY!

I found out right away. My surgeons office called me with the news before I even knew they had applied for it and it was 4 mos before my date 11/23/04...sharon

No....That is not right. I had a deadline crunch, my insurance was going out of network. I was in contact with my insurance company. Don't rely on the DR's office. Call your insurance company, find out who is handeling your claim and speak to them. You have every right to speak to them directly, don't feel like you are stepping on anyone's toes.
