Question:
I just recently got new insurance now what

but i have an appoinment with my old pcp on friday, actually they don't know i have new coverage, and i was wondering should i try talking this pcp or should i make an appointment with the new one...i was figuring if i try now and it didn't work out i could make an appoinment with the newer one, but then i thought what if the old pcp gives me a referral and i get approval to have the surgery then they find out about my other insurance and i'm back at square one??? what would you do?    — Stacy I. Stacy, I would talk to the existing PCP about the referral first. I am not sure if all states are the same, but in Kentucky, you are not subject to Pre-existing conditions if a new insurer picks you up within 63 days of an old insurance. The new insurance cannot legally or ethically go back on anything concerning your other insurance ,I am almost positive. This will give you a chance to get a doctor who knows you better to possibly give you a "better" referral than would the new one. On the other hand, it would give you a second shot if the first PCP refused. Hope this helps. Good Luck, it will work out.
