Question:
United Health Care & Best Buy

I am in the process of waiting for an approval from UHC. I called and they said I do not have an exclusion, but I have read where other people did not have an exclusion and were denied. My husband works for Best Buy and I was wondering if anyone out there has had prtoblems with them? Please help I feel like I am going insane, the waiting is making me so anxious. I had UHC last year when I had my Duodenal Switch. I had no exclusion and it took about 15 days for the approval. First I was "pre-determined" whichc meant I met qulifications and did not have any exclusions. Then I received the approval after a nurse reviewed the info. I work for American Express, not Best Buy. Good luck!!!

Hi Lizette, I have UHC...my approval took almost 4weeks!! This is because UHC has a tendency to be really slow...When and only when i started to call and push for answers did I get my approval on June 16th and I was scheduled for surgery June 30th!! Imagine that...But for the most part even though the weight was long..I had no problem getting approved base on being MO and having medical problems...and by the way there was an exclusion in my policy. Hello.. I have UHC and they approved my surgery (lap) in Jan 2003. They take a long time to get back to you with an answer. My BMI when I weighed in was 40.2 and did not have an issue with them. Have they denied you or are they just taking a long time to get back to you!!
