Question:
What is the ICD-9 code for weight control?

Anybody know of a ICD-9 codification for "weight control???" Stupid Winn Dixie insurance has "weight control as an exclusion to their insurance benifits and I cant get a straight answer out of them nor can I get any help from the execs that are at winn dixie in regards to getting the approvial. I am sorry that I don't have it for you... I have the code for just about every test they do pre op and the gastric bypass itself, but not the weight control. Have you called your insurance company? Ask for the claims department instead of the customer service department and they should be able to look it up and tell you... Good luck!

I'm a certified medical coder. ICd-9 codes are diagnosis codes. They describe diseases and medical conditions. "Weight Control" is not a disease; so, there is no such code. The code for morbid obesity is 278.01. The code for unspecified obesity is 278.00.
