TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE I WOULD CALL CIGNA AND ASK THEM. JUST CALL THERE REGULAR CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER ON YOUR CARD AND SAY YOU NEED TO FIND OUT WHETHER OR NOT YOUR SURGERY WAS APPROVED. THATS WHAT I DID EVERYDAY UNTIL I HEARD "YES"

Hi Sherry, I know how you feel. All TOO well!!!! I too was told via the phone that I was approved, several times and I still haven't gotten my letter and neither has the surgeons office. I have been calling Cigna everyday and they still say that I have been approved and that they will get the medical review dept. to send out my letter. I have even asked them to fax a copy to the surgeons office but they haven't. Just be persistant and hopefully we both will be blessed with letters this weekend. Good Luck.

I never got a letter of approval, even though CareFirst BCBS notified my doctor I was approved. I checked with CareFirst, and they confirmed the approval, but refused to send me a copy of the letter-- they said that the approval was to let the surgeon know that they'd cover the surgery. They told me to get a copy of the letter from the surgeon if I wanted it. Finally, I got the confirmation # from the insurance company, but I never got a copy of the letter. However, I had surgery over 3 weeks ago, and CareFirst paid my hospital bill, so I guess it was covered! Good luck!

I don't have CIGNA, but I was approved within 3 days of the insurance (Great West) receiving the paperwork from the doctor. Unfortunately, my dr won't schedule without the actual letter from the ins. giving the okay. It's been a few days since approval and still no letter. I just called the ins office and they said it generally takes 3 days to generate the letter and that I have to give them 7-10 days before it's considered unreceived. I just hope I get it today!
