Please help me find a doc who excepts Fl medicaid

Hi Im Melinda and Im looking for a doctor who has a good reputation and excepts medicaid , I tried to have surgery three years ago and was denied by bcbs, I now have medicaid and would appreciate any help given. Thank you    — melindameyers (posted on May 22, 2005)

Hi Melinda, I live in Fla too and I called medicaid because no surgeon in my city takes mediciad for wls. They told me if my pcp would send in a referral saying this was medically needed THEY would find me a surgeon that would accept medicaid...probably in central florida, which Im assuming would be around Gainsville or Orlando. Call the medicaid office and see if they tell you the same thing. Good Luck!!

Hi Melinda, The ObesityHelp.com site is so full of very good information and different ways to access all sorts of that information. I've met some wonderful people in my area from this site, and I've been doing research on the doctors around here that might accept Medicaid, too. When I searched "insurers" on the ObesityHelp.com home page, and then clicked on "FL" when the map appeared, I found this listing of Florida folks who have had their WLS covered by Medicaid. If you'd like to email them, learn more about their journey, their surgeons, etc., just click on their names, and you'll be able to view their profiles. Good luck in your journey. I'm a pre-op, in the same stage that you are in, I believe (just starting to get things together for the change). Dr.Jorge Sosa in Hialeah, FL. My surgery was completely covered by Medicaid and his office does all the work.
