I to have started having this problem, I would just barely hit something and have a huge bruse that takes for ever to go away. I also had my surgery lap on March 29th, 2001. I am calling my doctor today and asking what is going on. I don't want anyone to think I have been in a fight LOL.

Call your doctor and get your blood levels checked. I too started having this problem. I would hit something slightly, and I would get a huge nasty bruise. You should see my legs!! I look like I have been in a war!! I found out that I was slightly anemic and I am taking iron supplements now. It has gotten a bit better. Before, the bruising was so much worse. I bet your iron levels are low. Good luck.

I agree with a former poster, sounds like you both would have anemia, usually fixed by an iron suppliment or two, but informing your doctor is the first way to go so he can do your blood counts and tell you how much you need.

You need to have you clotting time checked. The doc will probably order blood tests on you but you should especially have a PT and PTT done..Ask him to do this..good luck

You moght to check your B12 levels too. They can also cause bruising.

One very big cause of easily bruising is a lack of potassium. Have your dr check it in the mean time if you can eat banana's they are a wonderful source for this.

At about 4 months, I too started to bruise easily. I would get bruises and not remember how on earth I got the bruise. One day, after I rubbed in some hand lotion, A large swelling appeared on the top of my hand. It was a large hematoma(bruise). I pressed on the area to stop the bleeding. The doctor thought that it might be from the aspirin I was taking for my knee pain. All my vitamin levels were ok and so were the platelets. Anyway, I don't need aspirin anymore (knee pain is gone)and I don't have any bruises anymore. Hope this helps.

I am 15 months postop and the last 2to 3 months I have multiple bruises, which first started out symmetrical and were smaller. Now they are much larger acouple of them are truly as large as a dollar bill. My family did my blood work and said everything was within normal range, but I'm concerned because I had blood clots and a mild heart attack a little over 2 years ago, 1 year prior to surgery. I have been starting to have much chest pain to when doing nothing at bedtime especially, which scares me because both my dad and grandfather died of a massive heart attack. They (the doctor in my home town seem to think I'm worrying over nothing). I recently in the last 2 to 3 weeks have been also having problems withmy eyes, even with my glasses of less than a year old, seem to not work. I also have problems when driving 40 to 60 miles with dizzy spells and feeling like I'm going to pass-out at the wheel. ?Like a ? petit mal seizure or something? What's going on? Otherwise I feel great the bruises don't hurt, but what if I got cut on one of them? I have plenty of energy and exercise and I'm very conscious of my vitamins and food that I eat. Does vitamin K have something to do with bruising? How do you get it? Is it a problem of too little or too much? Any advise would be greatly welcomed!!!! My doctors seem to not care. Where should I go to get reassurance? Help!!!! JEB
