Question:
Does anyone experience slump in the afternoon?

I am 3 months post-op and at the same time every afternoon (between 3:30 and 4:30)I get extremely tired like I am going to fall asleep at my desk. No energy and sometimes a little nauseous. My friend at work who had the surgery a couple of years ago said that she has this to and her blood sugar falls at that time. A nurse at work told me to drink protein a little before this happens every day because protein stays in your body longer than anything else. Has anyone else experienced this and how do you deal with it? After the hour is over I feel okay again. Any help would be appreciated.    — Jodie R. (posted on March 1, 2000)

Hi Jodie: This happens to a lot of people, whether they are wls patients or not. The advice you received to drink some protein is excellent. Also, a little fresh air or a short walk will do you wonders. Good luck and God bless! Jaye Carl, RN, open proximal RNY 7-29-99, 94 pounds gone forever!
