5/28/03 I haven't met him yet, but my interactions with the office staff has all been very positive and friendly.I have an appointment for the information session on 7/11/03 and I'm looking forward to meeting him then. I did like the way he has set up his program by having you go through the psychologist, dietician, etc.first so you don't have to do all that running around after your consultation.
7/29/03 I've now met Dr. Bell many times and although he's on the young side he has enough experience and his track record is comparable to other surgeons in the area. He's also very nice, compassionate, and extremely patient(at lest with his patients). I'll post more after my surgey in Sept. 9/14/03 I am so glad I had Dr. Bell as my sugreon. Not only was he skilled, but he was caring and everything I,as a nurse, could have asked for in a physician.

Dr. Bell was as impressive when I met him as the credentials and information that I had read about him. He was able to present the information and answer questions in a manner that was understandable and clinical. He seems to be very evidence based. His office staff is helpful, efficient and very nice. He and his staff try to attend the support group and he encouraged me to attend. Overall I would rate Dr. Bell and his staff as excellent in both surgical competence and bedside manner.

I met Dr. Bell at a community seminar sponsored by Yale and the VNA. I was so impressed with him that I knew right then and there I had chosen the right doctor for me. He was down to earth, not condescending at all and made a point of letting us know that his patients are his best teachers. I also commend his method of application as it really makes your think alot about your decision so when you actually meet with the doctor you are ready. His office staff is great and I can't wait for my surgery

I just met with Dr. Bell for the education session. I found him very informative and very personable. Unfortunately, towards the end of the session we had to leave the building for some kind of emergency (we were told at the parking garage it was a bomb scare!) Anyway, even though there were fire trucks and personnel, police, ambulance, etc. Dr. Bell continued answering questions as we all stood gathered around him on the sidewalk!

So far I would give Dr. Bell a BIG 10!!!

dr bell on first meeting was very nice and extreamly informative. he covered before during and after surgery. i was very impressed to hear how other hospitals are in comparison. his staff has been great and very helpful.he explained the risks very carefully. i believe dr. bell is very thorough and he says he takes extra time to double check the pouch for leaks before the end of surgery. the one on one was very quick i didn't have to wait very long at all. he seems to have taken care of the hospital stay worries. he has gotten larger chairs in the rooms for comfort and he automatically puts in a line for morphine so you don't have to wait for the busy nurses and it only allows the amount the dr. prescribes but will let the dr know how many times you pushed the button if case there is a need to adjust the medication. given what i have learned from this site and other places about the surgery and other doctors i would rate him a 10. he really is that good!

I haven't met Dr. Bell yet. He requires your evaluations by a nutritionist and psychologist before hand. He also needs referal letters from pcp before setting up an appointment. I have my evaluations set up for February so I'm hoping to have my first visit in March.

I finally met Dr. Bell on 4/11/03. Our first meeting was in a group of 12. I was extremely impressed with the doctor and his staff. Very professional, organized and compassionate. Dr. Bell explained the surgery in great detail and met with us until all our questions were answered. He seems to genuinely care about his patients.
He greatly emphasizes aftercare and has monthly support meetings at the hospital. He was very upfront about the risks and gave advise on how to minimize. I feel I've made the right decision and feel he is very competent. I feel he'll have great bedside manner also and he's pretty cute too!!!

My first impression of Dr. Bell was a good one. I liked the way he had the smaller group and how you had to have all your information in before you could go to the informational meeting. I am looking forward to the one on one consult before surgery.

His office staff were very nice and helpful about any questions that I had. They didn't seem to make you feel "rushed" to get out of there like a lot of offices do.

Aftercare is very important to Dr. Bell he gave us an handout about the procedure and what foods we would be eating and not eating after the surgery. When we go to our appointments post op we will be getting more information on what we should be eating.

He informed us about all the risks of surgery and answered all the questions that we had regarding those risks.

I give him a "10" and that was just on the first visit with a group. He really makes you feel that he really does care about everyone in the room and their feelings.

I believe he is a very competent surgeon who has had quite a bit of experice here and in another State with very positve results.

Of course, these are my own impressions of Dr. Bell and his staff of course everyone has his or her own opinions.

I have met DR Robert Bell only once during the general orientation meeting (2/21/03)with several other surgery candidates and their signifigant people. Dr Bell spent a few hours with us giving and out line of what to expect and answered every question persented and went further than the question when he thought of something related.
He is young but has been doing lap surgery for several types of digestive problems not limited to weight loss. His office staff is up beat and helpful. Very approachable.
As promised , within a week of that session I got a call scheduling the preop tests(4/15/03) and the date for my surgery (4/30/03).
During the appointments 4/15 I will have an individual session with Dr Bell. I am looking forward to getting a better lsense of his personality then.
