First impression of Dr. Alanis was that he was professional and caring. He and his office staff were really helpful and were ready to answer any questions I had. There are two aftercare places to go near his office but since I live too far away to attend these, his staff referred to this site. Dr Alanis explained the risks of the surgery and made me comfortable enough to go ahead with the lap-band. Both he and his staff are great. I would recommend them to anyone.

I like Dr. Alanis. He was clear about the different types of surgery available to me and the advantages/disadvantages of them. I am not however happy about the insurance approval process so far. It seems that the dr. office is having to \"Find\" a bariatric center that will accept my insurance plan, so that he can use their facilities. I have been waiting for this process to complete for about 2 months now. I have been in contact with the office staff and they assure me that this process could take this long. Although this is disappointing for me I am continuing to be patient. I'd like to have my surgery before 2009.

My first impression of Dr. Alanis is that he truly cares about his patients as human beings. My opinion of him has not changed. His office staff is great and very friendly and kind. They really know what they are doing with insurance companies. There is nothing I don't like about Dr. Alanis, he is kind, soft spoken. He treated me with respect. Alanis emphasizes after care, and it is very important for a successful surgery. Dr. Alanis did my revision and I thought everything was ok after the surgery but I started having fever the next day it was about 48 hours after the surgery on Christmas Eve I had emergency surgery to repair the leak after almost going into heart failure. I spent 13 days in and out of ICU. Pneumonia , PE in one lung, infection MRSA in the wound afterwards had a wound vac for about three weeks I thought I was going to die before I started healing and I have been in pain every day since. I know he went back in and saved me but I believe a revision surgery is a huge mistake and should not be done. To recommend a diet and exercise or a dietitian would have been more prudent and medically sound. He was assisted in the surgery by Dr. Miranda another surgeon. Dr. Alanis's bedside matter is one of the best I have ever seen, he is very careful not to hurt you and I believe he is a good person but no one should have a revision for 30 or 40 pound weight gain and if not for my job I would not have done it. I would recommend him to anyone as a surgeon but bariatics I would not no matter who the surgeon except maybe a Lapband. My life has been forever altered due to the revision surgery. I will be in pain the rest of my life. I regret it greatly as I said he is a nice person and a good general surgeon and I think he is a good doctor and I knew if anyone did the risks before the surgery but when you sign the papers no one thinks the "possible" things will ever happen to them WRONG the only side effect I did not have was death.

Very personable person and understanding. rnrnNow feel as close to him as a friend.rnrnOffice staff is excellent treat you like you are the only patient calling in.rnrnNo dislikesrnrnHe is going to tell you gently but firmly how it really is.rnrnVery good aftercare, stronly encourages support group.rnrnReferrals to several support groups.rnrnAddressed the risks very plainly did not sugar coat it.rnrnOverall EXCELLENT and I rarely rate anyone that good.rnrnBoth are great I trusted him with my youngest daughther and would not hesitate to trust with any of my children or family.rnrnThis of course my personal experience. I like his frankness in his explaination of the chance of failure if you do not use this operation as a tool and change your way of eating. Any surgeon that says it is easy and you can eat like you always have is just not being truthful.

My first impression with Dr. Alanis was very informational. My impression of Dr. Alanis is over wheelming. But over all he is a wonderful doctor and I don't regret chooseing him out of six other doctors that I was researched. Future patients should know he is a warm, conforting doctor. Dr. Alanis emhasixe aftercare to the max. There aftercare is very structured and sticked. When you go into his office for you consulation he tells you all the information in regards to the surgery if it good or bad. Dr. Alanis is very up front and honest. If I had to rate Dr. Alanis I would rate a 10+. His surgical competence, bedside manner and out of this world. Thanks Dr. Alanis for changing my life from the worst to the better!!!!!

Dr. Alanis was referred to me by a friend who used him a year before me. I was in search of a new one and decided to give him a try. I was not disappointed! He is the most thoughtful, considerate, sincere, and trustworthy doctor I have ever met. I would not trade him for anything. He was easy to talk to and actually spent time with me to answer my questions. He is truly dedicated to his work and loves what he does. His bedside manner is wonderful and nothing is too small a request for him. I LOVE HIM!!!

Right off the bat I could tell that he was going to be strict , which I respected because I have congestive heart failure, and obstructed lungs . I knew that I was going to have special needs and clearances to get this surgery (RnY) to survive it. I feel that him and his staff are very sincere about improving my health and my quality of life. I can answer the rest later in my journey to the smaller heathier me!!!!!!! wish me luck!!!
