Have had my first appt. with the surgeon on Apr.9 2001, I was very impressed with Dr.Nye,he wont's me to keep track of my diet for three weeks and come back with my husband to see him. He says he will determine what surgery he can do on me then. It will be either the rny or the vertical banded. I will see him again Apr. 30th and will find out more then. Will post more as news comes. Thanks for all the surport. P.S. his office staff was very kind and helpful.

My impression of Dr Nye is a very compassionate and understanding person. He empathizes with his patients and explained the surgery to me and my husband thouroughly. His staff is wonderful. He explained the benifits of surgery as well as possible complications. He was very straight forward with me and I appreciated that.

Dr Nye and his staff were both professional and extremely kind and helpful from the first. My questions were answered in detail and any explanation I needed was given. Dr Nye was there at my bedside everyday to check on me and has worked with me since on the followups as I live so far away. I would definately recommend him highly for someone who is considering this type of surgery.

I had my first consult with him on 02/12/01. I was very impressed with him. He answered most of my questions, and put me at ease about which procedure is best for me. He even made time for my husbands questions. I was told to write a food diary and reschedule in one month while we wait for insurance approval. Dr. Nye said that the food diary will help him decide which surgery is best for me. I was approved in about 8 days. I called back, and got my surgery date for 03/23/01. I am very excited and nervous at the same time!! So far I am very pleased with Dr. Nye. The only thing that seemed a little off to me was the way his nurse Terry was with me. I must have been catching her on her bad days because everytime I spoke with her, she was kind of rude and short with me. I am trying to smile and keep my chin up because I know I will need to work very close to them on my post-op care.

I liked Dr Nye the moment he entered the room and began talking to me. He was very understanding and concerned about my health and getting to know me to do the best procedure possible. Office staff was very helpful and they are working on getting my insurance approval. I'm looking forward to my next apt with Dr Nye on the 26th. Dr Nye has requested I keep a food diary until that time and my husband must attend the next visit with me so he can be advised about the surgery pros and cons as well.

My first consult with him is 11/27*****
11/27 : I met with Dr. Nye today. Everything went really well. I liked him more than I thought I would, which is wonderful. The girls in the office were very nice and helpful. Rose, his nurse(and wife) remembered me as being the one with all of the questions. I told her I was sorry if I drove her crazy...She said.."not a problem..that I didn't drive her crazy with all of my questions"...that made me feel better. There wasn't anything about him that I really disliked. He sat down and talked to me about myself, and about himself. He told me of problems in the past...1 woman had died in 1985 of an aneurysm, and 1 woman had died in 2000 from a pulmonary embolism. He also told me that he had one case where he had to go back in and do a repair. He has done hundreds of these operations. He does
3-5 a week. He did his first gastric-bypass surgery in 1979.
He explained the different surgeries, risks, possible complications, etc.He is MAJOR BIG on aftercare, and has a structured aftercare program.
I guess I would rate him very high since I am leaving my life in his and His hands.

I was very nervous and intimidated by Dr. N at first but after spending a few minutes with him we were laughing and talking about my crawfish ettoufe' he was very concerned and left nothing out in the consult, although he was rushed due to a emergency surgery (not bariatric). So I was nervous about him being in a hurry.

His staff is made up of his Wife (very nice) his daughter in law (very nice as well) and his nurse Terry (very informative and sweet) They were concerned and helpful

He told me there were definately risk involved and this had to be a last resort, after every attempt to loose weight.

I rate him an 8 he seems to be a very reputable doctor

as of yet I don't know his surgical competence, but his bed side manner is wonderful.

Dr. Nye is very profession and thorough. Was pleased to answer any and all questions, and wanted to make certain that I knew exactly what I was getting into. He and his wife, Rose, make a great office team!! Love everyone in the office. I can certainly see why he is the best man in the region.
Would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone. This guy is GREAT!!

Sorry that I can't make any negative comments to balance the recommendation, but other than having me on liquids alone the day prior to surgery...I have nothing to complain about. He was right, I needed to do that...I was grumpy without eating.
