I had the RNY on June 30th 2010. My first mpression of Dr. Scott was great, he explained the surgery in detail, His staff is awesome+++++ and friendly. I had a hernia that did not show up doing the endoscope, but Dr Scott corrected it doing the surgery (which I felt was great). I would recommend his office to others. His staff continues to check on me, and gives suggestions for my new changed lifestyle. I would like to thank Dr. Scott and his entire staff for all their help and support...

First met hi at the informational Seminar on Sept 21,2009 - very informative seemed like a surgeon, rushed and wanted to get all the information out and answer questions again for the 1,000th time. Met in the office June 20 , 2010 met with partner and spent 2 hours discussing surgery, my risk factors and tests I need to get the ball rolling. And to start some weight loss till next office visit in August. Had EGD, nuclear scan , leg doppler, PFT, pulmonology clearance. Today August 9,2010 met with Dr Scott my surgeon, discussed the tyoe of surgery, risks , potential outcomes and after care. Again need to loose some more weight before surgery. But I did come down on BMI one point this month! He is kind, and very informative, secure in his talent. More personable than any other surgeon I have worked with or met in 30 years of nursing. I will have a vertical sleeve gastrectomy and possibly an RNY in a few years after my BMI is down under 60.

I was initally impressed with Dr. Scott at the educational seminar. He was polite, well versed, and seemed totally confident.

I had my first evaluation with him last week. I was late, but they took me right in. We probably spent 45 minutes to and hour with me taking his own medical hx. He was very thorough and inquisitive for clarification on my answers. I felt totally at comfort with him and his approach. He described why we needed additional testing for some medical hx and ordered some of what was needed. Others he gave me the task of finding and scheduling for myself. that was good as I needed something to keep me busy while I wait.

The only complaint I have: they have a very large office staff and I have to leave messages, sometimes 2-3 times before I get a call back. Will see if this improves as they get to know me better

Dr. Scott is very friendly and to the point. I feel very confident that he'll do a great job. The staff in the office is dedicated to all the WLS patients and are available for anything you need, even the smallest question and they are extremely friendly. rnThey stress aftercare, calling in with any questions or issues, and support group.rnrn

I was very impressed with all the comments that people left about him and that I have delt with his staff *Andrea Patsy Stacy and they are so awesome !!
Dr. Louise Yavitz was my therapist and we connected in an instant.
All I have to say is that I look forward to the death of my old habits and horrible food choices and welcome new life of healthy choices and family support !!

Fantastic Surgeon. I would fly 2000 miles to have this doctor work on me. The Depaul Health Center Weight Loss Institute staff have been fantastic and are extremely well organized. They helped me jump through the hoops and follow through post op.

My first impression of my surgeon was good. I was a special case whereas insurance required me to see him fives times before I could get approval. Each visit was short and no longer but fives minutes. But after each visit he apologized that time spent was little, but insurance required I see him so many times. Over time he put me at ease about his capabilities as a surgeon and his concern as a person. A very honest and straight to the point surgeon. rnrnI would recommend Dr. De La Torre, and his staff Nancy, RN and Patsy. They are wonderful caring and attentive staff. NO matter the nature of my concern and how busy they were, I was always made to feel like I was important. A very awesome place, and on top of that, they are a Center of Excellence, so after care is a priority for them.

I have seen Dr. Scott Twice and both times, positive and very business like. First time I saw him was not sure of questions and was very anxious because of previous visits with other bariatric surgeons. Second time he was very up front and no nonsense.

My first impression is that he was direct and to the point. He was upfront about the risks and life changes it will cause. (supplements for life, psychological changes, ect)rnrnUnfortunately I moved from the area about 3 months after the surgery so I could not participate in any after care. I actually lived to far from the area initially to participate anyway. Also, I could not find a surgeon where I moved who would agree to see me since I had already had the surgery. So.. I had absolutely NO follow up care or support group possibilities for me.rnrnDr. De La Torre, however, was very diligent while I was in the hospital and I am thrilled with the result of the Lap. surgery.
