I haven't met him yet - I will meet him for my consultation on August 12th. So far, his office staff has been very diligent and informative. They are better organized than my PCP's office (that's for sure).

Dr. Jenkins is a pro.On my initial consultation he made me feel that nothing was more important than me. Answered all my questions. Friendly and very professional and confident.we went over all the risks involved, but didn't dwell on them. He points out the risk/benefit ratio and then lets you decide. The staff is great also. Set up all the consults and called to remind me. They really go out of their way to get you through the process as painlessly as possible.Aftercare is tremendous. Dr. Jenkins runs his own support group meeting, not an associate or intern. This impressed me.He does have a structured aftercare program. He sees you weekly for the first couple of months. He did me, anyway, but I had a few complications. Nothing life threatening, but not fun either.
His bedside manner and surgical competence are both top notch. This is a very grounded surgeon who gets the whole obesity thing and wants to help us in our battles with this problem. If you use Dr. Jenkins, know that you will be well taken care of by him and his staff.

I was immediately impressed with Dr. Jenkins' professionalism and warmth. His word choice and body language told me that he really truly cares about his patients and genuinely wants to help them make the transition to a better life through gastric bypass surgery. My positive opinion of Dr. Jenkins has only increased since my surgery, with his accessibility, willingness to listen, sense of humor, and comfortable openness and willingness to talk and explain whatever I want to know. There is absolutely nothing about Dr. Jenkins that I dislike, and anyone wanting to have a tremendous surgery experience (as well as spectacular aftercare) would do well by choosing him. The completely detailed and planned aftercare program has been spectacular with his office, lab work, dieticians, and his office support. Dr. Jenkins has obviously spent a great deal of effort choosing professional and caring office staff that reflect his philosophy of taking care of the patient. Dr. Jenkins was very clear and detailed about every aspect of surgery and what the risks were/are, and emphasized the necessity to follow the very sensible program he lined up. Overall, I would rate Dr. Jenkins a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being really, truly great. I have met several other surgeons in my quest for information regarding WLS, and none could even compare to Dr. Jenkins, even a reknowned surgeon in Phoenix who made national news. Dr. Jenkins was highly recommended by many people, and he has his own reputation as being the best "lap man" for his laparoscopic gastric bypass skills in Northern California. I researched and asked him directly how long he had been doing gastric bypass surgeries (nine or more years I think)and success rate (highest in all the surgeons) and death rate (lowest in all the surgeons). His office was great in helping me do paperwork and process everything through my insurance (Blue Cross) which was great to work with. Not only is Dr.Jenkins an incredible surgeon, he is also one of the nicest, comfortable-to-talk-to doctors with a fun bedside manner. He made this surgery experience the best I've ever had (I've had 2 caesarean sections, 2 breast surgeries, gall bladder, and several other surgeries in my life). I owe so much to Dr. Jenkins and his abilities in the weight loss surgery field. I only wish his office was closer to where I live so the visits weren't such a long drive, but he's worth it.

My first impression of him was how nice he was and in NO HURRY, he was totally concerned with me and my problems. My impression of him has not changed because he is still deeply concerned about all his patients and it shows. His staff is very efficient and returns your calls very promptly and answer your questions.
There is absolutely nothing to dislike about Dr. Jenkins. I highly recommend him to anyone who is interested in the surgery. He emphasizes aftercare and has a support group at the hospital once a month.
He explained the risks of the surgery but of all the surgery's I've had this one was easy and left very little scaring. My doctor is the BEST!
My personal experience has been positive in connection with my doctor and the only negative experience has been getting my stomach adjusted to eating solid foods like meat and learning to slow down my eating habits.

The first time I met Jeff Jenkins I trusted him immediately. Not only is he easy on the eyes, he is an extremely kind, caring, compassionate man. "Dr. J" is exceedingly professional and I hold nothing but the utmost respect for him. His staff is wonderful, efficient, friendly, humorous, and helpful. A lot of times in life I've learned that people follow the mottos and creeds of their employers and in this case this is true as well. The only thing that I did NOT like about Jeff Jenkins is that he is strict in the sense of your care (which is a GOOD thing) and makes you have as much respect for yourself as you do for him - meaning that there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING I didn't like about the man. Future patients should know to be completely honest with Jeff Jenkins, and trust wholly in his advice. Doctor Jenkins is not in this business to line his wallet (although he doesn't come cheap:), he is not a risk taker, if he doesn't believe that you will be successful he will bluntly tell you and not accept your case. Dr. Jenkins wants his patients to live - well!

I was very impressed by my initial contact with Dr Jenkins. I found him pleasant and very informative in the first seminar I had to attend regarding information on Bariatric surgery. I find his program to be very complete with preop and postop care....meetings and mandatory preop preparation with various specialties. My first actual personal appointment will be May 21st...I will update later.

Dr. Jenkins was very up front with the risks of this surgery. He tells you like it is but in a very personable way. He and his staff are funny, witty and very supportive and helpful. I would recommend him to anyone at this time. We will see how he is at the next appntment.

Well I had my first visit with dr. jenkins yesterday... i have done a lot of research on him and the surgery in general.. i knew his background and how he was with his patients.. i was first greeted with his nurse--- she is wonderful.. very sweet and funny... she makes you feel very comfterable while she is asking you all those questions you really dont want to answer...

dr. jenkins came in after her and spent about an hour with me and mom.. (moral support-- you really need it) he is a wonderful man.... he made me feel very comfertable.. he doesnt talk down to you.. he talks to you .. and not at you which is very important... this meeting was very informative.. and he answered all of my questions...and my mothers as well.. he had a concern with one of my health problems--(i have a long bleeding time) he explained to me that auburn faith does not have a large blood bank.. he refered me to a hemotologist for a consult... dr jenkis told me if there were complications with the report from the hemotologist he most likely wouldnt be able to do the surgery.. i made it very clear to him that i wanted him operating on me.. i really didnt give him a choice!! :-)) anyways i dont think there will be a problem.. the last time i had a major surgery was 1985 and my bleeding time was 21 minutes.. and i had to have a platlet transfusion and everything was ok... im crossing my fingers hoping things (xxxxxxx) will go smoothley... dr. rashad will be calling me tomorrow to arrange my consult...

dr. jenkins is the kind of dr you want to see... he is very active in his patients well being pre and post op.. he made it very clear that it is important to follow up with him on a regular basis and report any complications and progress ... he only does a few surgeries a month so he keeps in contact with all of the patients... unlike some surgerns post op care is very important.. and hes not the type of dr-man that would forget your name!!

if you are in the placer county area and are considering surgery--- dr jenkins is a wonderful dr. and i would refer him to any one intrested in this procedure.

Throughout my consultation with Dr. Jenkins I felt very relaxed. He was patient and spent over an hour with my husband and I. He answered all our questions and explained them in a matter to which a person without medical knowledge could understand. I felt he was sympathetic towards my obesity. Dr. Jenkins office is small enough that you will receive that personal touch. I trust him 100% in doing my surgery.
