Dr Kam is a straightforward and caring professional. Expertise in surgery, coordination of care and professional follow up made my experience extremely satisfactory.
I am planning on having my surgery in October or first of Nov and I chose Dr. Kam because he has a lot of experience under his belt
DR Slikkers is An Excellent Surgon Hands down but............. After all the talk about the follow through and how important it is to do all the right things I Find it real Funny that the Dr will allow his practice to dismiss you after only a short 9 mo after surgery, due to billing issues. Now have a devise in body Lap Band with no one following it and not finding any surgon that wants to take on someone who has already had procedure done by another Dr. Leaves you out there with no help?? Better have the discussion with Dr about this or it could be you!!!! No wonder there are so many Law suits for malpractice.
Dr. Kam performed my VSG on 1/23/12. From the moment I saw him on the day of surgery, I knew I couldn't have been in better hands. Due to scheduling conflicts, I didn't see him after surgery but saw his intern that afternoon, and Dr. Kam came by in the morning both days I was in the hospital. I have been very impressed with his intelligence, candor and bedside manner. He is a positive person who will give you all the information available and assist you in processing it. I live quite a distance from his office and he has gone above and beyond to work with me and my PCP so that I don't have to make as many trips to Traverse City as the normal patient would. The office staff at Grand Traverse Surgery is wonderful to work with, from the beginning with insurance all the way through to post-op and nutrition counseling. I feel very fortunate to have Dr. Kam and his team on my side for this journey.
He is very nice. Direct but sensitive to questions posed in front of family members. His office staff is great. I am confident of his surgical competence. My incesions healed wonderfully within a week of surgery.
There was nothing negative about my experience. Even the hospital staff was great.
I just met my surgeon a little while ago and he is a wonderful man. He as the best bed side manners, very caring about you as a person and not just a patient. He is on top of his stuff he was the one who found out I had a bunch of ulcers in my stomach and that is why my surgery was delayed. I will fill out more as I get closer to my date Sept. 8th 2010.

My thoughts & impression of my doctor Dr. Featherstone is he is a very nice man, no bull shit gets to the point, tells you the best surgery to have that would fit you.
What you should know about Dr. Featherstone is he will tell you his thoughts.
Over all I like him. Outdoors type guy, so I'm I. I'm not like most women.
The rest have to let you know later about him.
Other wise very freindly, nice will talk with you.
I give him the OKAY!
Dr. Kam is a wonderful doctor. He gives me inspiration to keep working hard. He makes me feel like I have done better than the average person. He is wonderful and listens to everything. He does not make you feel rushed at all. rnrnI am post-op a couple of years now and he still looks forward to hearing from us and seeing how well we are doing.
Dr. Featherstone is the best in my book. I have known him since the summer of 2002. He did both my cancer surgeries. One in 2002 and then again in 2005.
So after those surgeries I had no reason to look any further for this surgery. He had concerns since I was a two time cancer survivor and insisted I wait until he thought it would be safe for me.
This was proof to me that he truly cared about my health and safety. I have never mentioned his name to anyone including my doctors in Cadillac and heard a bad word.
I owe my life and now my new life to Dr. Featherstone.
