I met Dr.Byers for the first time yesterday. I have to say I was most impressed with her and her office staff. I was feeling quite nervous about this meeting and they made me feel comfortable and welcome.

Dr. Byers is a dedcated wonderful caring person. She was my "hand of GOD". I will be forever gratful to her. She is very demanding of her staff which is wonderful for her patients as they get the best possible care.
Dr. Byers does not to push this surgery on anyone. She is very direct and lets you know all the risks involved. She let me know from the beginning that this was not a cure but a tool. I was told that I would lose a certain amout of weight from the surgery and that If I wanted to lose more I would have to work at it. I did this by walking faithfully from about my fifth month out.I started very slowly increasing the distance and speed.I truly believe this is why I have lost as much as I have.
She sees her patients at the Sylvester Cancer Center.You can count on being there for several hours each time. This upset me at first since it takes me about 4 and a half houre to get there but the time that is spent with each of her patients makes it well worth it. You first see a nurse and then a nutricionest before the doctor sees you. They are very very thorough. She then sends you for lab work checking carefully any complaint that you may have or that she finds.
They do have support groups every month but I have only been to one because it is to faras I live in Orlando. That is the one thing that I really miss.

Dr. Byers is a great surgeon, She is very cautious and caring. Her staff is great and very helpful. I can say anything but good about her, the aftercare is good. She has support groups twice a month. After researching this surgery with many surgeons, Dr. Byers is the best.
