Dr. Edwards imbues a feeling of safety. At the very first seminar he took the time to answer all questions and did not mind if you interrupted his lecture with one. Over time, his confidence, expertise, and compassion shone forth even more. His staff is very knowledgeable and takes the time to answer all questions and return phone calls, but you do get a feeling that they are very busy. Katie, his counselor, is the best ever. Her enthusiasm is contagious. They emphasize structured before and aftercare. They feel it is a vital part to your continuing success in this new lifestyle. They address all the risks of surgery and let you know this surgery is not for everyone. I would rate Dr. Edwards as one of the best topnotch surgeons. They are a \"Center of Excellence\" and prove it with the surgical competence and great bedside manner. Dr. Edwards and his staff are A+++++ in my book!

I haven't met my surgeon yet but I have started to meet with the social worker Katie who is fantastic. She has paired me with Al Hartman (bigal2029) who led me to this site (we are guinnea pigs for a mentoring program they are trying to start).

I had heard about Dr. Edwards through other patients that commented on this website. There were a lot of comments about his bedside manner & once I got to the hospital I defintely could see he treated me better than any other doctor I have dealt with. A lot of the hospital staff also commented about his outstanding bedside manner & that he was their favorite doctor to assist. He asked me if I had questions every time I visited him & he didn't make me feel rushed as I was asking them. His whole office is great. Mary Trampler could not have been more helpful. She not only dealt with the insurance part but also answered various questions & always put a positve spin on things. Every time I had doubts, she was able to find an answer to make me feel better. I appreciate the required educational classes & appointments that Dr. Edwards requires & also all the follow up care & classes that I will be participating in. This was a scary journey for me & Dr. Edwards & his staff made it all worthwhile.

I first met Dr. Edwards during the seminar and I really liked the fact that he would answer your questions completely. My impression has not changed of Dr. Edwards. He has a very good bedside manner, and really understands how to listen to his patients. His office staff is very similar to Dr. Edwards. I haven't found one single person associated with Dr. Edward that is unfriendly, or impatient. I can't think of anything that I don't like about Dr. Edwards. He really stresses that the surgery is a life style change. Also, that the lap-band is a tool we can use to lose weight and keep it off. He really emphasizes the aftercare program. He will tell you that you will be more successful if you have the support that you receive through their structured aftercare program. Dr. Edwards stated very plainly what type of risks you could face with either of the surgeries, and gave you the full picture with statistics so you could make a very educated decision. I would give Dr. Edwards the highest possible rating he could receive. I have recommended numerous friends to check into this procedure due to how confident I feel in Dr. Edwards abilities. I believe that both surgical competence and bedside manner are important, and Dr. Edwards possess great surgical competence, and a wonderful bedside manner.

Dr. Edwards is awesome. He is exciting, positive, happy and very knowledgable about the procedure. He doesn't have any bias against over weight people and has genuine understanding. Mary Trampler is also awesome and went above and beyond to help get my paperwork to insurance. She always responded to my calls and answered all my questions. I completely trusted all the staff and I'm comfortable every time I go in there. They are also very encouraging of your significant other coming. Office visits are not intrusive and the staff answer all your questions. LOVE THEM!!!

Highly impressed with Dr. Edwards including his personality, reputation, professionalism, demeanor, commitment & compassion. rnrnMulti-disciplinary team is top notch. rnWhile I have not met the dietician or exercise specialist yet, I cannot say ENOUGH about Katie Waldron. So insightful, gifted, perceptive and smart!! (Like when braggng on my brothers, I have to stop myself at this point or use up all the space allowed here and more!)rnrnMary Trampler, Nurse Coordinator is passionate, skilled and thorough. She took the time to answer all my questions, get to know each other and connect all the many dots involved. It's great to see someone at St. John's who truly loves what they do!rnrnDonna Combs: A star member working behind the scenes watching that nothing falls thru the cracks. Reassuring, kind, honest.rnrnKim Morris and Amanda (sorry Amanda, I don't know your last name)...........IDX wizards, fast, efficient, welcoming, generous with pens (very important!) and assure my bases are covered, appts made, $ accurate.rnrnIn short (or long, huh...), I have nothing but compliments regarding my experience in this office.

I love my doc!!!!! Dr. Edwards is a very talented and intelligent surgeon. I knew he had a good reputation. When he walked into the room on my first appointment, he already knew so much about me. He had reviewed my records thoroughly and had a grasp of what type of person I was, so he was able to suggest the surgery that would be best for me. I went in thinking that I wanted Gastric Bypass, but he presented some great facts that convinced me the lap band was the way to go. The day of surgery, when I was in the holding area, he came by to check in on me and say hello. I was a little scared at this point, but his friendly face was very comforting and reassuring to me. His bedside manner is great. rnrnMary Trampler, his nurse coordinator is wonderful as well. She was so friendly and sweet looking, but I know she has the tenacity of a bulldog when dealing with insurance companies. I felt like she bent over backwards to help me get the surgery in plenty of time for me to heal and be ready for my daughter's spine surgery that was coming up. rnrnKatie Branson, the counselor who does the psych evals, was so sweet and easy to talk to. She really knows her stuff as well. She puts MaryAnn on Big Medicine to shame!rnrnOverall, the program is very comprehensive. I would highly recommend Dr. Edwards and his staff to anyone considering WLS.

I REALLY LIKE DR EDWARDS. HE DID A GREAT JOB ON MY RNY. HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN VERY UPFRONT ABOUT ALL THE RISKS INVOVLED. HE TAKES THE TIME TO ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS THAT I HAVE HAD. HE CARES ABOUT YOU PERSONALLY. TREATING ME LIKE A PERSON. AFTER CARE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO HIM. HE HAS MADE SURE I KNOW THE TIMES HE WANTS TO SEE ME. AND ITS JUST NOT A COUPLE OF MONTHS. I SEEN HIM POST OP TWO WEEK, THEN HAVE SECHEDULED MY ONE MNTH POST OP. THEN HE WANT TO SEE ME AT THE THREE MNTH MARKER, SIX MNTH MARKER, NINE MNTH MARKER AND THEN THE ONE YEAR. rnAS A PATIENT WITH ANY DR MAKE SURE IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, DOUBTS AND OR FEARS *ALWAYS* ASK THE DR. WRITE THEM DOWN SO WHEN YOU VISIT CAN ASK. CAUSE DR DONT KNOW WHAT WE ARE THINKING OR FEELING NOT UNLESS WE TELL THEM. AND DR EDWARDS LISTENS TO WHAT U HAVE TO SAY...
