Dr. Rupp is a very matter of fact, highly skilled physician. He did an outstanding job with my lap RNY surgery. I am 2 years out and down a total of 115 lbs and now weigh 195 and have stabilized for 10 months. He answered all of my questions and never made me feel rushed at any appointments. Being a scientist myself, his matter of fact approach felt very natural and thoughtful. Others may think that he is cold which is far from the truth. He is a very caring individual. At the hospital he stopped by several times on rounds with a team to verify my condition and ask questions, making sure things were going well.

I self paid for the surgery and used BLIS coverage. Great for peace of mind resulting from my employer's choice to exclude bariatric surgery from health insurance coverage.

Would I use him and his team again if I needed to? absolutely without reservation!

I was out of United Hospital in 2 days after the surgery. With almost no pain, I did not even need tylenol. In fact 4 days after surgery I found myself saying, If I didn't know any better you couldn't convince me I had the surgery it was so painless and uncomplicated. The 6 small scars are each less than 1" in length and almost unnoticeable.

I praise GOD ..... My diabetes is gone!! Blood pressure normal, Cholesterol normal Sleep apnea gone, neropothy gone, Results of the last panel of blood tests 51 of 53 tests were in the normal range. Wow even my eyesight has improved and it was already good to start with.
I also have one additional fabulous side affect, I am never hungry. I have not been hungry once in over 2 years.

At 56 years old we become pretty accustomed to how our bodies respond to various things. I have a great deal more energy for me to accomplish the tasks of each day. My wife is fully convinced she got a significantly upgraded husband as a result of the surgery. She did

One thing that his team at St. Paul Surgeons rarely mention is their excellent free monthly support group. I went at first because I had promised my wife I would (I dislike touchy feely meetings) I am so glad I did. These free meetings included eating topics, food measurements, exercise, even a clothing exchange hosted by St. Paul Surgeons, discussions on vitamins and supplements just to name a few. Attendance was approacing nearly 100 in some cases. Individuals considering surgery are also welcome to attend. They are very helpful and encouraging as you can ask how others experienced the changes to life after surgery. They also provide excellent long term follow-up. They want to see me succeed.

I have!

I had a lap RNY with Dr. Rupp on 5/23/11. I absolutely love Dr. Rupp and all of his clinic staff at St. Paul Surgeons. Anytime I had a question they were there for me whether big or small, there was always someone there to help. Also his people that deal with the insurance companies were amazing and I never had anything to worry about. My surgery was done at United Hospital in St. Paul and they too were simply amazing. As of today I have lost 85 pounds and am 0.2 pounds from my goal weight. If anyone were to ask me "would you do it again?", my answer would be absolutely and Dr. Rupp would be my choice of surgeon....

I wanted to update my review on Dr. Rupp and his clinic St Paul surgeons.

When I first met with Dr. Rupp I was disapointed. He seemed to rush through my appointment. However I found out later that the reason for this was because I had not made up my mind on which surgery I wanted to go with and so he wanted to meet with me again after I chose one and was sure of my choice. I met with him again today and he didn't rush me at all and answered all my questions. I am very confident in his abilities because of his track record and his education and teaching experience at the University.

I still have to say that Nicky the girl who takes care of getting the patients through the insurance hoops is very rude and I would never let someone that rude deal with patients who are putting their lives in these surgeons hands. She has no compassion and no people skills. However you can tell she is good at her job and knows what she is doing. But it would be nice if they could find someone else who can do the job AND treats patients with respect.

My final note: This is just to I save some people the shock at the end. I wasn't told that I would need to pay whatever my insurance wasn't covering upfront before I could schedule my surgeory. If I had known this I would have been saving during my 6 month insurance hoop jumping time. I almost had to switch to Abbot since they don't charge that money until after, but I found a way to get the money so I was able to stay with Dr. Rupp. So be sure to plan out your financials too and find out ahead of time how much you will need to save up before you schedule.

I will add to this after I get my surgery in October. Wish me luck!

Dr. Kelly had a very nice bedside manner from the first moment I'd met him. Everyone in his office was nice. The only bummer was that he thought I was a good candidate, but said since my BMI was low (35) he didn't think I'd lose as much as others.

AFter surgery it appears that everyone had missed an anomoly in my blood work my platlets were dangerously low and they should not have done the surgery. (even though I'm glad they did.) When he found that out in surgery, I also had a severely enlarged liver (NASH Syndrome). So he appeared genuinely concered about me after surgery.

Dr Kellly was always up front with me and always seemed concerned about my wellbeing. I would recommend Dr. Kelly to ANYONE!

I have not yet personally met with him, but he was the informational meeting speaker. I thought he was very intuned with the problems that being morbidly obese causes. I was impressed with the fact that he has been doing these kinds of surgeries for 25 years and very rarely has had a patient with serious complications. I will update more after meeting one on one with him.

My surgery went smoothly and I had absolutely no complications afterwards.
The head office manager/nurse: Jody Nicholson as well as his other staff were extremely helpful and supportive with any and all questions I had.
They have a wonderful follow-up program making use of an in-house dietition and mental health doctor.
They hold monthly support meetings for pre and post op clients.
He's a great surgeon and it's a great office to work with!

I had my consultation with Dr.Kelley this morning. I was a little nervous in general but was quickly put at ease. The previous reviews that mentioned Dr. Kelley have a good "bed side manor" were spot on. Dr. Kelley greeted me warmly and continued that tone through out the appointment. We even sharged a few laughs. He was extremely knowledgeable and personable, I can tell he care about people.

I left his office feeling so positive and excited, he really helped put my few concerns to bed. I know that there are risk, even possiblity of death but, knowing Dr. Kelley is proforming my surgery has really put my mind at ease.

I will post again when I hear back from insurance.

All I can say is that Dr. Rupp is amazing (and so is his staff). He was very helpful from the first meeting (seminar) to my surgery and thereafter. The entire staff (from Angie at the phone to Kristin in insurance services, not to mention the nutritionist Lindsey) at St. Paul Surgeons was extremely helpful and polite. I could not have asked for more and I thank each and every one of them for giving me a new slant on life.

Dr. Kelly performed WLS on me in Sept. of 2010. He was very professional and did a wonderful job. I am very happy with the outcome even though after waking up from surgery I thought I made a terrible mistake but that was the pain speaking for me. I am pleased to say that I have dropped 161 pounds and still losing. I haven't been happier. I am able to keep up with my 4 year old twin boys, my sleep apnea is under control and I am just enjoying life to the fullest. I just want to say thank you Dr. Kelly for saving my life~
