Dr. Mecenas is a highly trained and knowledgable surgeon. He is very caring and non-judgemental. His staff is wonderful too.

I was impressed with Dr. Macenas for taking so much time explaining the surgery to me. Also as much as I am finding it real hard to get time away from work for ALL the pre-op testing I know in the end I will be glad I had them. He seems genuinely concerned about us as obese patients, realizing our problems are more than a need to quit eating and going for a walk.
He let me know this is not w/o serious risks and also the need for lifelong suppliments, and life changes
I'm looking forward to the changes a new healthy, hopefully less pain (back, joints, feet)this surgery can offer me

I really like Dr. Mecenas. He is very down to Earth. He talks to you like a person. He has been very encouraging to me. My first impression of him was that he was someone who wasn't going to sugar-coat anything. My husband went with me to the first consultation. We asked a lot of questions and he answered them all. He was very intent on stressing the seriousness of this surgery and suggested that I go ahead and talk with other surgeons too and see who I felt the most comfortable with. I was impressed with that. Even though I went to this appointment thinking my mind was already made up about the surgery, talking with him made me spend more time thinking it over. I am so glad that he made me think about it more, and I am so glad that I decided to go ahead with it.

His office staff has been excellent. They make me feel very comfortable. They know my name when I walk in the door and that makes me feel important (not something I am used to).

As far as surgical competence and bedside manner, I would say both are outstanding. I have had no complications, I haven't even had to throw up once and I am now 8 1/2 weeks post-op. He was excellent to me and to my family in the hospital and my follow-up visits have been very positive. A couple weeks ago I had some cramping that turned out to be nothing, but his nurse, Rita insisted that I come in and be checked. I felt that I was going in for nothing, but Dr. Mecenas took it very seriously and showed a lot of concern for me.
Overall, I would say my experience with him has been terrific and I can't imagine how any other surgeon could be any better.

Dr. Mecenas was a great doctor. He is very informative. He was very easy to talk to and ask questions.

Overtime, I began to trust him and his abilities.

The office staff was outstanding. They were so helpful and very much involved.

He seems a little shy at first, but once you get to know him he warms right up.

Be honest and direct in your questions. He is always happy to answer your questions.

After the surgery, he was in my room several times a day. He made me feel really special.

He is working on an aftercare program and will have one set up soon.

I already was informed as to the risks, and he and I openly discussed it.

Overall I would rate him a 10!

I think he is great with both.
