My husband and I just meet him not to long ago and I really liked him. I found him to be very sweet and kind. I had a friend of mine who had done the surgery already, well she could not say enough nice things about him. I am very excited about getting the surgery done and so is my husband.

I was Dr. Borland's first gastric sleeve patient. I felt very confident in his abilities so I was not too nervous going into the surgery. Everything went perfectly. I had zero complications and would recommend him to anyone considering this surgery. In fact, Dr. Borland will be doing a gastric sleeve on my brother in a couple of months.

Dr. Borland was very nice and easy to talk to. His staff was also very nice and friendly. The surgery was done outpatient at a surgery center. I live approximately 1.5 hrs away from his office, so he requested that I stay at a hotel to be near overnight. He visited me the afternoon of the surgery at the hotel room. He made my husband and I feel very confortable. I would recommend him as a surgeon.

From the minute I heard Dr. Borland speak, I knew he was the surgeon for me. I felt comfortable with his speech. He advised the group that he was the one who personally went to different states to be educated in all aspects of this type of surgery. rnrnMy impression of Dr. Borland has not changed at all since my surgery of March 10, 2003. I have gone to every monthly meeting since April of 2003, missing only one: which was this May because this date conflicted with my daughter's senior high graduation. Each time Dr. Borland has graces us with his expertise, he has brought more valuable information that we could all use. He is constantly going to seminars to learn different things to help us with. rnrnDr. Borland is a very fortunate man at Dautrieve hospital in New Iberia, LA. He has a strong staff of group supporters. Ms. Wallace, Nancy Darrow and Krystal LeBlanc are dedicated to his patients. Ms. Wallace has never misssed a meeting. The other two young ladies are there very often also. Our group is very fortunate. rnrnI really do not have anything negative to say about any of Dr. Borland's immediate staff who have helped us post-operativately. rnrnI think future patients should know that rnDr. Borland is caring, he will address your personal needs, he will answer your questions and ask if you understand the answer, he is very tired when he comes to the meetings because of surgery all day, but he comes with his whole self. rnrnDr. Borland emphasizes aftercare all the time. He states that aftercare is just as important as the decision to have the operation. rnrnAs far as a structured aftercare program, all I can say is that he wants you to follow up for the rest of your life at different time intervals and he definately is in full participation of the support group. You cannot ask anymore of the man.rnrnDr. Borland shows slides of the complete surgery procedure and explains step by step what to expect and all the risks involved. He ask if there are any concerns you may have, then he addresses them.rnrnI hate to say this but after hearing from several people about their experiences and their doctor. I am more than grateful that I chose Dr. Borland, in my opinion, he is the \"best\". He knows his field and he is well intuned to adaptation. As I said, he is constantly going to seminars to keep abreast of the new procedures and to tune up on the old ones.rnrnDr. Borland has both. Personally, I would rather have a surgeon with confidence in his work than one who jokes alot. Believe me, after surgery, you are so drugged up you would not get the joke anyway. But, if he made a slip of the knife, guess who gets the last laught. It would not have been me. Borland is the way to go.

I liked Dr. Borland very much. He was very thorough when he examined me. I liked the fact that he took the time to go over everything in the packet given to me. He answered all my questions in a very knowledgeable way. The office staff were very friendly and helpful.

I cannot say enough about Dr. Thomas Borland, he really is an outstanding person along with being a great surgeon. Thanks to him this was the most uneventful surgery without any complications whatsoever. I can say that I had very little if any pain at all. RNY OPEN 3-9-05 7-9-05 -99/LBS

He was a great person and well informed of what he is doing. Made me feel very comfortable in his presence. Everyone at his office has been very helpful and friendly. I am scheduled for surgery in two days, so don't know anything yet about the aftercare and service he will provide. My girlfriend has had this surgery with him and he has done wonders for her.

Dr. Borland was a very nice and special doctor. I could tell by the first visit he was my doctor of choice and i came all the way from texas 11 hours away to have him do my surgery.I am a nurse and i am fortunate to work with a staff of wonderful doctors and you really dont come by that to often especially with surgeons so he is A number one with me. And his staff are so nice and helpful they really make you feel great when you come in and when you have problems at home they make you feel sain again its a great office and a great place to make a life changing procedure happen.They addressed every aspect with the surgery before i knew exactly what was going on and he was such a gentle and calming surgeon i really didnt get nervous or scared after or before the surgery and im sure that not very many people can say that about there WLS. but dr. borland and his staff are number one as far as weight loss surgeons and i would do it agin only at the new hospital. lolol

Dr. Borland is incredibly patient, kind, and professional. He answered all of my questions and did an excellent job.Future patients should know that he is extremely qualified, but also very busy - so make and keep appts! He empahsizes aftercare to the extreme. I was told to call the office after surgery with any problems and I have a thick booklet on diet and other post-op concerns. He informed me of all of the risks. He also has a support group for those interested in, or those who have had the surgery. I rate him as high as possible.
I think bedside manner and surgerical competance are both great.
