I've only met Dr. Brader once, during my consultation at Barix Clinics, Langhorne, PA on 1/3/05. He passed the first impression test. I found him to be a very likeable guy with a good sense of humor and knowledgeable about the process a patient goes through when they've come to consider this solution. He was thorough in discussing my medical history as well as asking that I supply him with other records via my PCP. He talked about the risks with the surgery as well as the measures he takes to prevent such possibilities (a thorough examination of one's medical history; and he checks for leaks during the procedure). He was in no rush to set a date for surgery until other concerns were addressed. He also stressed the fact that this surgery is one of the initial steps that can lead to a successful outcome. The program at Barix is complete and includes nutrition education, support groups, exercise down the road, reconstructive surgery and life-long monitoring. The staff at Barix were very friendly and efficient. Dr. Brader mentioned he was recruited by Barix because of his skill in laparoscopic procedures.(Barix performs the RNY only, open and lap). It was only after this consult that I found a wealth of info via OH on Dr. Brader and his previous practice in the Raleigh-Durham area of NC. His earlier patients (I read about 50 profiles) are very pleased with what he has done for them. I trust I will feel the same.

On my day of surgery Dr. Brader was his usual jovial self and he gave me all the confidence in the world that everything would go well - and it did. The surgery was performed early on a Monday and he discharged me on Wednesday. During my stay he checked on me often and the staff's care was exceptional. My care after surgery could not have been any better. I was able to attend my first support group meeting the night I was discharged and the group couldn't believe I had surgery only a few days before. I have a 2-week and 6-week checkup scheduled with lifetime monitoring thereafter. I'm very pleased with Dr. Brader , the program and his staff. He's a surgeon who's at the top of his game.

Dr. Brader answered all of my questions and because of his confidence he eased the mind of two of my very good friends. I am very confident in his ability and I like the fact that he is very upfront. He explained the surgery and what I would need to do after. I am very aware of the dangers with this surgery however as I said I am VERY confident in Dr. Brader.

Very competent, good bed-side manner and lots of experience. My feeling was that he had given his intro speach many MANY times. It did sound a bit rote. However was very informative and after, patiently answered all my questions. Nice man!

VERY NICE, VERY PROUD OF HIS ACCOMPLISHMENT IN THE AREA OF WLS. SURGERY WAS DONE AT BARIX IN LANGHORNE, PA. GETTING PAPERWORK THRU WAS A LITTLE IRRITATING AT TIMES SINCE I HAD A TIME RESTRAINT FOR INSURANCE.

AFTERCARE PROGRAM IS VERY STRUCTURED.

Dr. Brader at Barix clinic. He may be the surgeon orginally from Raliegh on the list but I am not posiitve. Dr. Brader spoke to me on an equal level. He explained in a concrete manner what he does and how he does it. he answered all of my questions, though after listening to him I had few. He has taughte, is nationally certified, does the surgery lap., has also been an emergency room suregeon. He stated he has operated on every part of the abdomen lap. I feel very comfortable with him.
I'll update as I see him...

I met with Dr. Brader October 6th @ the Barix Clinic in Langhorne, PA. Being a R.N. I was very impressed with the surgeon. He was very knowledgeable and patient. He answered all of the questions that I had before I even had a chance to ask them. I was very confident in him and trusted him within a few minutes of talking with him.
I am 28 year old mother of three and have struggled with my weight since adolesence. I was one of the unfortunate people who took Phen-Fen to lose weight. I did lose over 60 pounds but later I found out that I had Aortic Valve Regugitation and Hypertension. Therefore I am very limited in what I can do in order to lose weight. However I've spent thousands of dollars over the years trying every diet out there. I finaly have come to the conclusion that Gastric Bypass Surgery is the only thing that will finally get the weight off for good.
I am looking forward to the surgery and I am confident that Dr. Brader will do a great job. Since I've met with him my primary doc has given me the go ahead. I've had my sleep study and my Cardiology consult. I still need another echocardiogram (That's tomorrow). I probably won't schedule my Psych eval until I find out if I'm approved by the insurance company because I found out I have to pay $200 cash for the Psych eval. According to the Psychatrist office I may get reimbursed after surgery. But I think I'd rather wait so that I don't waste my money. To date, I still don't know if The Barix Clinic has submitted to insurance company yet. Dr. Brader is not in the network yet. I will call them tomorrow to see if there is any news. Wish me luck!

Dr. Brader now works at BTC in Langhorne PA. He will be my surgeon. I found Dr. Brader to be very knowledgeable, credible and thorough. He seems to be on top of his game and walked me through the entire process. He was warm, kind and nonjudgemental. I have heard great things about him from past patients and I am glad that he will be operating on me. The Barix Treatment Center in Langhorne, PA is absolutely beautiful. It is new and has state of the art equipment, all geared toward the obese. WLS is the only thing BTC does so they are extremely experienced and that makes me feel very comfortable knowing I am going to specialists in this field. The program itself is very thorough, from consultation to follow up.
I think Dr. Brader is unique as he has great bedside manner along with highly competent skills as a surgeon.

Dr. Brader is new to the Barix Clinics, but he has a long history w/ laparoscopic GBS. He was very knowledgeable and was able to let me discuss this with him in an informed way. He didn't try to talk over me b/c he's the doc and I am a patient. He said he was impressed b/c I was so well versed in things that surround the surgery and lifestyle.

He said that surgery is only 1/3 of the equation, that I need to follow a diet and exercise program as well, and that it isn't the fix it all that people might think it is. I realize that lifestyle changes need to happen...the surgery will help me get used to those changes.

all in all a good appointment!

Dr. Brader is a wonderful Surgeon. His staff is just as wonderful. I am really happy that I chose Dr. Brader as my surgeon.
Dr Brader along with Christy Donovan, his PA was honest and very forthcoming with information needed to make a decision to have this surgery. I had the surgery one year ago on April 3 and I am very happy that I did. Right now my sister is considering the surgery also. Hopefully she will have as good of an outcome that I had. His aftercare program is very good. His surgical competence and bedside manner is over and beyond 100%. He is great.
