Dr. Abkin is a diplomate of the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is a Regular member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Abkin has more than 15 years of experience in advanced laparoscopic surgery and 13 years experience in laparoscopic weight loss surgery.
Dr. Abkin was among 30 bariatric surgeons who were selected to train other bariatric surgeons in placement of the REALIZE BAND in the United States and was the first to implant the band in the state of New Jersey in October, 2007.Dr. Abkin was the FIRST surgeon on the EAST COAST to offer SINGLE SITE GASTRIC BYPASS in 2009.
