Dr. Andras Sandor, Stoneham MA. An amazingly calm, gentle, intellegent & well experienced, reassuring physician. Very open. Lovely manner. Respectful of my time and the path that brought me to him. Staff is extroidinary. His assistant Kathy is a constant source of help, always with a smile and kindness.
I can't say enough about Dr Sandor, Kathy his assistant and Kathy his nurse! All I know is that I cannot imagine going through all of this without them. They really make you feel as though you are their only patient.
We now have our own support group, where 'old timers' are there to talk, openly, about the entire procedure. It's also a place where we can explore new ideas, diet issues, plastic surgical concerns and just laugh! The site is warning me that it's impossible to give a 100% review.
I'm here to say that's just not true....Thank you Dr. Sandor. You are the best!
Now am post-RNY and could not be happier.
Thank you Dr Sandor.
Kathy Chaplin, what can I say? You are the right hand and irreplacable! I love you!

Doctor Sandor is amazing. I'm so happy that I chose him for my surgery. He is so caring, and really wants to see you succeed. When I woke up, he even made one of my bandages a heart. That small effort to show I was cared for made me feel amazing.

I went through his Lawrence Memorial Office (he has a second in Stoneham). I have to say the whole staff is an amazing group of people. They were willing to answer any question I had, regardless how silly it was. I feel really comfortable with my team.

I also like that there are monthly support groups. The people in the support groups REALLY cheer you on!

I would ABSOLUTELY recommend Dr. Sandor to a friend.

Dr Sandor is wonderful. Having gone to meetings at three other programs before his, I knew at my first appointment that Dr Sandor was the surgeon for me. He listened to me and we had real conversation. He was extremely thorough and I felt he was truly there, in the moment. His right arm, Kathy, was the first person I spoke with at his office, and she has the same qualities. She was the reason I made the first appointment, and made the journey pre-surgery seemless, always guiding and encouraging. Dr Sandor visited me at least daily in the hospital and his NP, Karen, met with me at least daily in the hospital, as well. Karen is fantastic. She kept me informed, answered all of my questions, and worked with me to meet all of my specific needs. Dr Sandor is an excellent surgeon, and he and Karen both have amazing bedside manner. This team is truly amazing.

I first met Dr. Sandor a few years ago for a different problem and he suggested the bypass surgery for me. He has handled every issue with great care and I was quite impressed. He was my first choice for Gastric Bypass surgery when I finally made the decision to have it. The entire experience was great! Although nervous going into the OR, he made me feel better to know that was normal and came to see me each day. Even having me to a upper gi test to make sure there was no problems when I was having some nausea (even though I can't stand that particular test). Dr. Sandor handles every patient with care and treats you like a person, not just a number in line. He will be my first choice for all future surgeries, if ever I need something done and he handles those problems. The office staff has been courteous and handled each of my questions carefully, even before surgery. I just wish the support group met more often, as that has been most helpful with identifying problems and figuring out how to solve them.

After long consideration, I finally decided to have the weight loss surgery. I was referred to Dr Sandor by a friend of mine who also had the surgery done. My 1st appointment with Dr Sandor was in May of 2019. Within 2 minutes of meeting the guy I knew that he was the right Dr to deal with for this surgery. Professional, Educational, Empathetic and just an overall really nice guy. We had several appointments before the surgery (totally normal) and I felt more and more comfortable each time I left each appointment. I hit a few detours on the way to surgery. (Something was wrong with my CPAP machine data that was needed for the surgery and of course, Covid 19) I had surgery on 6/23/2020 just over a year after 1st meeting Dr. Sandor. I'm a month and a half out and I've never felt better! My energy level is through the roof and I'm down a total of 59lbs and counting. Dr Sandor and his whole team saved my life. If you are considering weight loss surgery, I 100% recommend Dr. Sandor. Outstanding!!!

Dr. Sandor was great from the start. He answered all my questions. He gave me all the information I needed to make an informed decision. He laid out what my options were with pros and cons. He was a realist the entire time. He tells you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear. Some people go into this thinking that it’s a cure all and the surgery does the work for you. You have to do just as much work, even more. You have to choose to commit to it and stick with it. I made major lifestyle changes before surgery and maintained those with success for 6 months prior to surgery. Then I used the surgery as a tool to continue them. Dr. Sandor is calm and has been encouraging the whole time and continues to be. He also had great bedside manner before and after my surgery.

Dr. Sandor was wonderful during the pre-surgery process. He was reassuring and teddy-bear like. However, after surgery, when I started to regain, I went to him asking for help, unsure of how to control the problem. He suggested putting a before picture of myself on the fridge to stop myself from eating. Talk about destructive.

Dr. Sandor is a great surgeon, I don't trust many Doctors or people for that matter ,but as I was telling a friend, I would let him preform any type of surgery on my kids. Coming from me or most Mom's that says so much about a person.

As a nurse I have worked with many differnet doctors and medical professionals. Dr.Sandor is fantastic. He is very caring and has great bedside manner(unfortunately is not the case with all surgeons). Christine Williams the NP is wonderful. She is easily accessible to answer any questions or concerns you may have after surgery. The front desk staff are helpful and friendly. Both Dr.Sandor and Chris were thorough in addressing risks of the procedure as well as the details of how the procedure is performed and what to expect after surgery. The weight managment center offers monthy support group meetings. Topics vary from meeting to meeting but are usually helpful and interesting. While there is no structured aftercare program it is expected that you make and keep follow up appointments. If you don't you can expect to receive a phone call and letter to get your butt back in the office. The weight management cener is located at Lawrence Memorial Hospitl in Medford. The hospital itself looks a bit dated which was a little unsettling at first, however the competent compassionate and friendly nursing staff more than made up for it. I have not had a negative experience with this program. I did start my journey with differnt weight loss center and was put off by the arrogance of the surgeon as well as the judgement I felt from the nutritionist. I have recommended Dr Sandor to both a family member and a co-worker. I feel like I should also add that I followed all of Dr Sandors instructions and advise and did not have any surgical or post-op complications.

I am a post-op RNY gastric bypass patient, and I can't thank Dr. Sandor enough for being such an integral part of my success. He was confident & reassuring during my pre-op phase, and he continues to be most supportive now that I am post-op. It is easy to see that he truly cares about his patients. And his guidance is always spot-on. His office at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital is pleasant and easily accessible. His staff is very friendly to interact with. Also, Dr. Sandor's nurse practitioner is particularly wonderful. I honestly can't think of a negative thing to say; my experience with Dr. Sandor has been fantastic. Weight loss surgery is not an easy road, but Dr. Sandor has made what could have been a scary & difficult experience into a low-stress & successful one. Having a caring, smart, and responsive surgeon makes a world of difference. Thank you Dr. Sandor!!!
