Dr. Duffy was noticed in New York Magazine as one of the top 50 surgeons in the area. His diet is draconian. He has a very dry sense of humor and is excessively strict and unforgiving. I don't know if that's responsible for my success or if I am succeeding in spite of it.

My first inpression of Dr. Duffy is that he is very serious about his profession, and how he interacts with is patients.rnHe was very nice and had no problem answering our questions, and giving us the information we needed for our surgery.rnI liked the way he ment with about 10 of us at the same time in group style.rnWe were all very excited and eager to get started. But main of all it felt good to have others there who was going through the same things that I was as far as my weight, and the medical problems behind having all of this weight on me.rnI will get to meet with him once more befor my surgery June 11, 2009.rnrnOK, my surgery has been change all the way around. June 18th is my new date. I ment with Dr. Duffy, and he looked like he really did'nt want to hurt my feelings by telling me that I was not a good canadit for the RNY surgery. At first I thought he was joking, but then he looked so serious. I mean, he looked like he did not want to hurt my feelings! He explained that the VSG(the sleeve) would be better for me becaude of my weight and all the surgeries I have had.rnHe explained that he did not want to take that chance with me. I kept thinking to myself that any other surgeon would have just done it regardless of the complications.rnSome people are just that money hungery!rnBut my surgeon, Dr. Andrew Duffy, really had compassion for me and cared enough to look out for my well being.rnDr. Duffy, you get 10 thumbs up, a snap and a twist for showing me some luv.rnGOD BLESS YOU!rnrnI had my surgery on June 18, 2009. When they said my surgery would start 7:30am they ment 7:30am. Everything was done so nice from the robes that had a heater that connected to the robe for when your cold, to nice people making jokes early in the morning. I felt comfortable and relaxed without medication. Dr. Duffy came in and I felt even more relaxed. As soon as I seen him I knew everything would be ok.rnI prayed and asked Father GOD to be with me and the next thing I knew I was waking up in the recovering room. The hospital stay was really nice I just could'nt wait to get home.rnAll in all, Dr. Duffy is the best surgeon of all time.

OMG!! Dr. Duffy is so cool! He's very soft spoken, seems really knowledgeable. I am glad he's doing my surgery. Jane which is a part of the office staff has had surgery through this group of doctors, so She knows the deal and doesn't sugar coat anything.lol Overall, I have a great impression thus far.

He is very down to business, serious and professional, he doesn't tip toe around any subject and is very up front about everything and I was glad for the honesty and forthrightness. I wouldn't describe him as warm but I'm not looking for a hug, I'm looking to save my life!rnI have only met him once prior to surgery.rnThe office staff is very warm and friendly, I liked them a lot and appreciated that one of the staff had the surgery herself. I also really appreciated that in their office they have oversized seats and chairs for our comfort.rn The risks of surgery were explained very clearly to me more than once.rnI have not had surgery yet, but I would rate Dr.Duffy, Dr.Bell (who has a great sense of humor by the way, he ran the group info meeting), and the office staff as very good and above and beyond my expectations.rnrnUpdate:rnThe above I wrote before surgery. I am several months post op now and I feel that the after care for this office is poorly lacking to say the least. I have never seen nor been referred to a nutritionist since surgery. I get very conflicting follow up care advice from the nursing staff depending on who you get on the phone. Dr.Duffy seems thrilled at how much weight I've lost but unconcerned if it is at the expense of being completely malnourished, vitamin deficient and unable to eat properly. I feel that I was left out in the cold to hang once the surgery was completed and paid for.

Dr. Andrew Duffy is the best!!! He is with Yale University Bariatric Surgeons - a center for excellence and he is in with Dr. Robert Bell. I went to the seminar on 12/8/06 and listened attentively to all they had so say. Needless to say when Dr. Duffy presented I just knew that this is the guy I was looking for to do my surgery - he knew his stuff and he was kind and sensitive to my questions. I was getting frustrated because I could not get an appointment for my psych eval prior to 1/07 and he was kind enough to give me the name of Mark Gaynor, LCSW and I got an appointment right away. My paperwork was all complete and in Dr. Duffy's office by 1/2/07. Since I did not get a call with an appointment by 1/3/07, the very next day, I decided to e-mail Dr. Duffy on our Groupwise system that we use at Yale and I said \"I am hoping God places it in your heart to read this e-mail - I need a date!!!\" and he read it - I got a call with a date four days after. I feel confident and I know that I made the right decision. The staff is great, Jane, his nurse manager was great - she had R&Y a couple years ago and looks great and she used to work as an OR nurse where I work which is part of Yale too.

My first impression of Dr. Duffy was excellent. I felt very comfortable when we met. He was very informative and answered all of my questions. He spent a long time with me and I am confident he will do an excellent job. rnDr. Duffy provides a very structured after care program as well.rnDr. Duffy's office staff were also very informative and explained everything to me regarding pre-operative and post operative expectations, care, diet, etc. They were almost too thorough with all of the information they provided me with. They scheduled my pre-admission testing and written instructions for my entire process. Other than having to wait 6 months for the surgery due to my insurance, this has been a positive experience so far.
