Dr. Kaul treated myself and my family with the utmost compassion and respect. I love him so much and recommend him to anyone thinking about surgery. He listens to all of your concerns and gives you the power to make well informed choices. He also specializes in robotic surgery which was a selling point for me because of minimal scarring. 7 months post op I have lost 96lbs, with 4 to go until my goal!

Dr. Kaul, is a wonderful doctor. First of all his attitude, concern and treatment of my family and I was wonderful. He took the time to explain the different procedures and answered our questions. He did not rush you and was very patient to resolve any concerns that we had. As my son would say, "Dr. Kaul you rock!" Keep up the great work!

As a registered nurse I researched my surgeon and cannot say thank you enough to Dr. kaul. He treated me and family with courtesy and respect. He took the time to explain the procedure to my very nervous family while I was being prepped and called me daily for the first four days postoperative to see how I was feeling. He is such a caring man and he is a talented surgeon. I would recommend him and Putnam Hospital Center to anyone thinking of having WLS.

My first impression was nice because I was scared he would scold me about being heavy. My feelings haven't changed so far. His staff is and are exceptional. They make everyone feel special and like you are their only patient, and always have time to talk to you. There is nothing I dislike about him and I would tell people he makesyou feel very comfortable, and has a sense of humor. He and his entire staff work with you on your aftercare, and explained to me the risk and benefits answered all my questions without rushing me. I rate him high because he is just a very nice man and is concerned about the family also not just the patient. Both and he has them down, because all throughout my surgery he called my family himself 3 times and when it was over he came out and talked with them. Then on my discharge date he saw me and made a joke about my Marine daughter. She told him as we went to the O.R. if you hurt my mom I'm a Marine so be careful. He told me on my discharge date she made him nervous, and this is where his sense of humor came out, and that meant alot to me.

Dr. Kaul is a very impressive surgeon; extremely well-qualified, excellent performance indicators as far as complications and the like, well-respected by many others in the medical community. AND I had a terrific experience with him and my lap RNY in early January 2009. In addition to a virtually problem free surgery and hospitalization, he was sensitive and compassionate and attentive to my needs. I had the same impression about the other surgeons in his practice. I would not hesitate to recommend him to any others seeking WLS!rnrnThat said, I was not quite as impressed with his office staff, who while all lovely people and very caring, were simply not as well-organized and efficient as I would have liked. Information was not always passed along correctly. Instructions and aftercare instructions were inconsistent both from one staff person to another, as well as between different written materials. None of this should put off a prospective patient, as the impacts were minor and more than out-weighed by Dr. Kaul's excellence as surgeon and physician.

It's taken me a while to post this, but here I am...rnrnI'm just going to follow the questions that are given....rnrnWhat was your first impression of him/her? rn* My first impression was that he was very blunt straight forward and optimistic of what I was doing. Though overweight he was very supportive of the lifestyle i was living.rnrnHow did your impression change over time? rn* Over time he became more of a friend than a doctor. He remembered personal things from previous visits. He took all the time in the world to answer my questions and meeting all of my needs.rnrnHow would you describe his/her office staff? rn* They are the best bunch of people. Always cheery, supportive, and nice. It is a very busy office (which should say something for their practice) so sometimes I had to leave voicemails, but I always got a call back with an apology for not getting to my call on time.rnrnWhat did you like least about him/her? rn* I didnt like that I was seen by different surgeons after the surgery, but that was quickly corrected when I mentioned it to the lady at the front desk. There was no animosity only apologies and like I said a quick fix (they went and interrupted Dr. Kaul explained the situation and he sat with me and went through everything again, though I had already had my visit with the other MD)rnrnWhat should future patients know about him/her? rn* You can not go wrong with Dr. Kaul!rnrnHow much does he/she emphasize aftercare? rn* Not only does Dr. Kaul stress how important it is to followup and be diligent about what you are doing post-op, but so does his entire staff.rnrnHow did he/she address the risks of surgery? rn* VERY MUCH SO!rnrnHow would you rate him/her overall?rn* 20 out of 10... :)rn rnWhich is better, surgical competence, bedside manner, or are both great?rn* ALL of it.... He was there when I started and he was there right by my bed when it was all over. Now a year later if I email him he is still there to cheer me on and say GREAT JOB! make sure you are taking your vitamins!!! lolrnrnI love the guy and his office :)rn

I absolutely recommend Dr. Kaul to anyone considerting WLS. He is amazing and kind and listens to you at every turn. He put my mother at ease right before and after the surgery. He is great with any questions you have and it was wonderful to see him AFTER my surgery when he checked in on me in my hospital room. I completely love that I chose Dr. Kaul!

Dr. Kaul is a very nice man with a gentle, reassuring presence. He is respectful of the patient and makes you feel important.rnrnThe office staff is amazing. From the front desk employees to the people dealing with the annoyingly incompetent insurance companies.rnrnThe dietician, Patti Talio, is another pleasure to deal with and be around. It was her personality, talent, and abilities that caused me to lose 20 pounds prior to the surgery.rnrnWith 1 week to go before my surgery, I can't say enough good things about this practice.
