I absolutley love Dr. Greene, even after 4yrs I have his personal cell phone number. He told me once he is my doctor he always is. Him and I have fussed and fussed. Dr. Greene knows I am a stuburn red head...hehe! He saved my life.

I liked him immedately because he was factual. Straight to the point. Patient education is very important to him. Stresses patient understanding. He cares about his patients, and having them be at optimum shape before surgery to make recovery better for you.rnThis is all preoperatively speaking.

i don't remember my first impression of Dr. Greene it was back in 03. When i saw him again this year my impression was he hasn't changed he is always smiling and has the same soothing/calming voice. The office staff is like one big happy family. They are are always willing to help and always seem so happy that you are there. the bad thig i can say is Doctor Greene is very busy doctor so his time is limited so when you go to vist him make sure you have all your question ready. Dr. greene is the best of the best he goes over everything more then twice. And if you don't follow his pre-surgery guide lines he will post pone your surgery which made me feel extra safe in his care.I would rate Dr. Greene on a scale of 1-10 10 being the best an 11. Both his bed side manner and sugical competence are the greatest. :-)

Dr Greene is my new hero! He is very knowledgeable about the surgery and very thorough in the process. His office staff is great and very encouraging. Dr. Greene is personable but also very busy, he does not take much time for idle chit chat but will take time to answer your questions and concerns. The entire process of his program is very important as well as the aftercare. Everything is addressed thru the process even to the point where he has you take a test to make sure you understand everything. It sounds like a lot and it is but you can rest assured that you are in good hands and be very confident in your choice.

I think I remember hearing that Dr. Greene is dry but I find him friendly enough. Most doctors I have ever dealt with seem to be on the serious side, anyway, and that is okay with me. He actually laughed at a funny card I had stuck to the front of my WLS notebook, so that was heartening. : ) He is good about answering questions. Someone posted on the message boards that he is going off to do some humanitarian work in another country for the next few weeks--that is a good thing and makes me respect him. All in all, he's okay with me.

Dr.Green is a Great surgeon, in the personality department he is not much but he is very professional and cares about his patients when it comes down to it. At the hospital he was very concerned of your progress before letting you go home.
His office staff is dedicated to education up front so there will be no surprises and you can make an informed decision either way.
His office staff was very kind and friendly
mainly Julia Hernandez who was Dr. Greene's right hand and has now left his practice. What a loss she was the back bone of his office. After care is a very important part of his program. The post op followup is highly stressed on an ongoing basis. His program is a very restrictive one and prepares you well for surgery when the time came.

My one and only encounter with Dr. Greene was not one that left me feeling warm and fuzzy all over. I arrived on time for my appointment, the nurse took me back to the exam room and I sat there and waited for one full hour for Dr. Greene to finally come into the room. Dr. Greene is very thorough in how he describes things that is true, but I didn't see the compassionate person everyone has been talking about. I had a roux en y bypass in 1999, and I am not a success story. I initially went to Dr. Sandler to talk about another health issue, Dr. Sandler referred me to Dr. Greene because as Dr. Sandler said, "They have failed me" (because my surgery wasn't overly successful). He actually gave me a moment of hope, hope that I could be fixed. Dr. Greene didn't agree. He talked for a good long time, I walked out of there feeling so depressed. I sat in the office with tears running down my face listening to his "theory" on why I am still obese (I didn't have my stomach that was stapled off removed and he thinks the hormone that tells you that you are hungry is still very active) and that he or someone else (he referred me to someone in Virginia) could totally redo my bypass but with unsure results. So as you can see, I'm a LOSER even when I attempt to get medical intervention. Dr. Greene may be an excellent surgeon but I don't think I will ever find out.

I had an immediate feeling of confidence after first meeting with Dr. Greene. He came across as caring and very knowledgable. Nothing has changed my first impressions.

Office staff seems to be somewhat rushed but I never had any problems with getting in touch with someone to answer my questions.

Dr. Green has two support groups, one for his RNY patients and another for the Lap-Band patients. They meet several times a month.

He emphasizes both pre and post op care. He has just started a program in partnership with Shady Grove Adventist Hospital which includes psychological, exercise training, and nutritional counseling as part of the pre and post op phases.

Dr. Greene is quite adamant that everyone knows about the risks and complications of WLS surgery going in. It's repeated at all the support group meetings, which always has a few new people getting orientated for the first time. He also goes over all the various WLS operations available, and their pros and cons. He also has three support group web sites.

If you decide to have one of the operations he does not do he will refer you to someone who does.

I rate him as an excellent doctor.

I think competence is the most important factor, but it's nice to have both.
