I am just going to answer all these questions in my own way. Dr Beryl Brown is a wonderfully kind and gifted doctor and I would'nt change her for anyone else. I highly reccomend her. Katie and ANgie and Dr Brown's whole surgical team were also wonderful.

Dr. Brown is very nice and she is personable. She answered all my questions and even some i didn't ask. She even was cracking jokes with me. The office staff are wonderful. They are there for me when ever I need then they always answer my questions and treat me great. There wasn't anything bad I can say about any of them. If you have chosen Dr. Brown you won't be disappointed! The over all rating I would say would have to be 110%..

She is unbelievable and wonderful. Very patient friendly and spends incredible amounts of time with you. Explains everything, never makes you feel rushed. Her MA-Katie is also very sweet and reassuring. I go for my 3 month post-op appt tomorrow (10/9)

I have only had one visit with Dr. Brown. Even though she is due to have a baby in July 2003 she is extremely energetic. She is approachable, confident, knowledgeable and has a wicked sense of humor. She and her nurse, Katie, were informative and accomadating. Dr. Brown took her time with me. Even though she had many other patients waiting for her...I never felt rushed. She treated me as if I were the only patient she had to see all day. She encouraged me to find out as much as I could about the surgery and challenged me to come back with a list of questions on my next visit.
My only concern with Dr. Brown was she made the surgery seem so...common place. Almost like it was no big deal. That could just be my interpretation.

Katie gave me information regarding a support group that meets the first Thursday of every month. I attended that meeting as was pleasantly surprised. I meet pre-ops an post ops and a nutrionist. As I learn more I will be glad to share more with you.

05/29/03 Had my second visit with Dr. Brown yesterday. I came prepared with 3 pages of questions! She answered them all honestly and directly. I feel extremely confident having her perform my surgery on 6/6/03.She continues to be upbeat and very personalbe.

Katie has been a blessing through out these last few weeks. She has returned all my calls, remained patient with me, and has been helpful filling out FMLA forms for work.
These ladies are a winning team!

Since I prefer female doctors, my first impression was good, I was very comfortable with Dr. Brown.

As time goes by, I am more & more comfortable with her. I chose her for my gastric bypass as she had done my lumpectomy for breast cancer.

The office staff is very friendly and helpful. Her nurse is very good about answering questions.

Aftercare is weak. She depends upon a nutritionist to teach the patient how to eat. But the nutritionist is not apt to teach about the specific nutrition needs of bypass patients, i.e. malabsorption issues. Luckily, there was another group I could go to which was very helpful immediately after surgery & in learning how to eat.

Very frank in answering my questions regarding the risk involved.

I'm very pleased with Dr. Brown.

I think surgical competence and bedside manner are great.

The doc really seems sure of herself. I guess I felt comfortable.Opinion hasnt changed. I have only had one meeting so far... she did however surprise me with a Rectal Exam... yuk!!!!! Not ready for that.... but it was over quick.. she said "She didnt want any surprises on the operating table". Office was very nice. Clean, and staff was very professional.. I even went so far as to talk to other patients waiting to be seen by Dr. Browne. I wouldnt say anything bad because I really dont know that much about her, that would not be fair....I would say that I wish my doctor had a support group, and material on the lapriscopic procedure in stead she only provided material on the insicional. Again, I have not seen her but once so not much has been discussed and I cant rate her overall. I think she did have great bedside manner. Update... I liked her. She is very confident. She is very enthusiastic. I can tell she loves her job, and is very busy. She doesnt have a structured after care program, but I know it is all up to me now.

Dr. Beryl Brown was very upbeat and positive. She made me feel great about my decision to have WLS.
I have only met her once so my first impression has not changed.
The office staff so far has been wonderful. Katie sent all the paprework to the insurance company.
I can't say there was anything I didn't like about Dr. Brown
She is very upfront about everthing. She is also very positive and comforting.
We haven't gotten that far yet. I am sure she will be as thorough as with everthing else.
She was very upfront about the fact because I have had previous abdomianl surgery that there is a chance that I may have to have an open RYN. Knowing the risks upfront really puts things in perspective.

My first impression of Dr. Brown was I think i am going to like her. She was friendly and warm. She didn't mind answering my questions and didn't act annoyed when i told her I expected to be pampered.

Her assistant, Katie was wonderful also. Each time I have called the office with questions i have rec'd a return call within 24 hours if Katie was not available.

The office staff was nice and friendly as well.

There was nothing I did not like.

Future patients should know she is a female, which was a big plus for me.

We have not discussed aftercare yet,(other than the nutrition part).

She advised me of the risks. I have thoroughly researched this procedure so I am aware of risks. For me it balances the risks I place on my heart and other vessels each day I carry 285 lbs on my 5'2 body.

Surgical competence is very important. A great bedside manner though is also important because if you feel your doctor understands you it provides a trust and eliminates a huge stressor at a trying time.

My first impression of Dr Brown is very positive. I've meet with her only once todate. She was recommended to me by 2 other friends who have had this surgery.
She took time to explain the procedure.
