I had a nice first impression of Dr. Schrope...she is very kind and informative. The office staff was also very nice. I love her assistant. I feel they accomodate everyone, working class or not. They always get back to me in a timely manner. Even through all the complications, they answered all my many questions.

Dr. Schrope was amazing throughout my entire process. She was extremely open and knowledgeable about the surgery. She made sure that I was taking the right medications since I have Amenia and irregular heart beat with high blood pressure. The morning of the surgery she greeted me just as she came in and introduced me to her team. When I had a little issue post-op she was there to answer my questions. I highly recommend Dr. Schrope.

After a year plus since my surgery I am very thankful to have Dr Schrope as my surgeon. I begin by explaining my journey has not been an easy one. Many complications after surg, o the point that I am uneployed at the moment. Both physical and neurological complications. But Dr Schrope has been there every step of the way. She fought my insurance for services they did not wan to cover, very important services such as nurse visits and TPN feedings. Extremly pleasant and caring! Thank you Dr Schrope.

New post - Dr Schrope is a wonderful caring surgeon and I still agree with all my previous posts. Just to let you know.....an even better nugget of proof. I had a stomach issue a few weeks ago and another bariatric surgeon came to see me in the ER (not the same place where Dr. Schrope practices) He said to me after looking at a scan, that no my band wasnt causing the problem because my band was so perfectly surgically put in that it wasnt going anywhere. NOW even though i was still in pain (from another issue) I felt good in knowing another surgeon acknowledged her work

So far, I'm in love with her honesty, direct manner and sense of humor. i assume her hands are skilled, but those other qualities were surprisingly wonderful

I had an appointment with Dr. Schrope today, Wednesday, October 15, 2008. I was greeted by the office staff who were very nice and professional. The waiting area was spacious and clean and I felt very comfortable. rnrnWhen I met Dr. Schrope she greeted me warmly and I immediately felt that I was going to be in excellent hands. My first impression of her was that she was very professional as well as friendly. She is a very skilled and experienced surgeon and I feel very comfortable with her as my surgeon. I have done extensive research on the topic of both Lap-Band as well as gastric bypass surgery and the risks and benefits of each. rnrnShe took the time to answer all of my questions in great detail and emphasized the importance of aftercare. She discussed the risks and benefits as well as alternatives to the surgery. rnrnOverall I have to say that Dr. Beth Schrope made me feel very comfortable with my decision to have the gastric bypass surgery. She made sure that all of my questions were answered and never made me feel rushed. rnrnSurgical competence as well as bedside manner are very important. I would rate surgical competence over bedside manner in any doctor but according to the list of credentials that Dr. Schrope has she rates very high. Her bedside manner is great. rnrnI am very comfortable with my decision to go forward with the gastric bypass surgery. rnrnIf I don't back out I will be having the surgery on Monday November 3, 2008.rn

My first impression of her was very nice... and also that she knew her stuff. She has been published a number of times. She has a great bedside manner. Even held my hand in the operating room when I got a bit nervous. I have no complications so far, and go for my 2 week follow-up on Tuesday.rnrn**almost 6 months post-op... still love my surgeon

Dr. Schrope has a very youthful appearance. She has a calm and comforting voice that goes hand in hand with her experience, she's very informative. However, her Secretary is a rude bitch! When I was late for my first appointment with her, I asked the secretary would she be able to see me. She told me to have a seat in the waiting room. After waiting for an hour she told us that she can't see me. I told her couldn't you have told me that right away. I was traveling from Long Island to Washington Heights in NYC a very long trip. As my mother and I walked out, my mom said that she should've told us, the secretary followed us out into the lobby yelling at us that its you that were late and has to be here on time. My mom cursed her out. She was extremely rude. Imagine, yelling at a patient's relative in the lobby in front of the employees and patients. I hope they lose her soon!

I had my pre-surgery meeting w/ Dr. Schrope today. She strikes as very informative, personable and caring… all the things I already heard from other posters. I know I'm in good hands (literally). Dr. Schrope is out of The Columbia University (New York-Presbyterian Hospital) Obesity Center, but I will be her 1st patient at the NJ, Valley Hospital. The Columbia Univ MDs are starting this practice in NJ to extend their reach. Nice! My surgery is set for Mar 28th... I can't wait!
