I am SO mad at myself for choosing this surgeon. I thought I was having the vertical sleeve surgery but the only thing Dr. Lane did for me was remove a hiatal hernia and do a Nissan Fundoplication. I found out that he only removed a small portion of my stomach (40-50%) and I lost about 60 pounds on my own. I had to drink the premier protein shakes 2 weeks pre-op and I lost 17 pounds on my own with that. I have constant diarrhea and I am really devastated that I put my life in Dr. Lane's hands only to find out that he beat around my insurance company because they would not pay for any weight loss surgery and this is what I got. I told friends that I had the gastric sleeve surgery and now they all look at me like I had surgery and never lost all of my weight and they see me struggle. How embarrassing to see other people I know have the VSG and are skinny! I feel so embarrassed that I told anyone I was having the surgery! I am very upset and will be having a REAL VSG SOON!

Dr Lane has dissapeared. I contacted the BEST bariatric surgeon in the country, who works at Mayo Clinic, and sent him all of my surgical records. It was his opinion that Dr. Lane DID NOT give me a weight loss surgery, he only rearranged my anatomy.
I can not find him anywhere on the internet so I am not sure if he is in Mexcio, Canada or just not working anywhere.
The Toledo U Hosp is a very prominent hospital and thought this Dr was as well. No wonder they must have asked him to leave after a year or so.

1 year and 8 months later and this VSG was a HORRIBLE choice. I am only down 30 pounds. I have had trouble loosing weight. Only after upping my thyroid meds was I able to take off some weight this summer.
Dr Lane left UT and now I dont know where he is.

I met with Amy at my first visit. She was very easy to talk too and was extremely knowledgable about all WLS aspects. She made me feel very much at ease and confident.
I had my surgery on 4/20/09. I had some unforeseen complications (that can happen with any revision surgery) The staff at UTMC was great I met with my 'surgical team' everyday. Not only does Dr Lane visit, but interns are also on your case and check in on you. It makes you feel like an 'important' person to have so many people working for you.
I live 45 miles from Toledo and have gone back several times for office visits. I have never had trouble getting med refills or a nurse on the phone to answer questions.
If you are considering WLS then Dr. Lane is a top-notch choice. You also have an excellent care team provided by the University of Toledo staff as well.
Thanks to Dr. Lane and Amy and everyone for taking such good care of me.

Dr. Lane seemed to be very knowledgable of his field. He made me feel very comfortable with my decision. I felt at ease having my surgery at Barix.

I had the RNY 1-22-08 I had every complication possible, I was told it is rare to have a leak well not that rare. After my 5 week stay in the hospital I ended up right back in for one reason or another I have had 4 exPloratory surgeries since my RNY. I did loss a lot of weight however Dr. Lane moved for BG oh to toledo oh which was great because he was now closer to me. However I felt abandoned because of all the problems I had. Ok now he is at UTMC I seen him several times for some problems I was having he scheduled test I had them done I went back to see him and he had resigned WOW really I asked what I was to do I was informed I had to find a new doctor. This was not an easy task a few doctors refused to see me because I was DR. Lanes patient. Now I'm gaining weight and having sever pain when in gods name do I do? I thought Dr. Lane was a god well he did save my life but I feel like I have been locked out, lost idk what to do my new stomach hurts so bad!

I picked Dr. Lane because I felt he had the best training and experience with the type of revision surgery I needed. I am very grateful for my choice. There were unforseen problems with my old stapling procedure and I under went 2 surgeries a week apart. First one was lap the second one was open. Dr. Lane fixed the problems and was able to do my VBG in the process. He is now at the University of Toledo hospital. Thank you Dr, Lane for my weight loss and my LIFE.

I love Dr. Lane. He genuinely cares about his patients. He answered all of my questions and he didn't make me feel bad about being overweight (like other surgeons I had seen in the past). His team is awesome as well. Amy is the coolest PA ever. She held my hand as I went under and I knew I was in the best of hands. I hope they land at Toledo Hospital, but honestly, I would follow them anywhere!

My first impression of Dr. Lane was what a kind and gentle man he is and it has not changed. He and his staff are absolutely great. Never once did I feel that I was just this \"fat\" person. He took really good care of me before surgery, in the hospital and after. I have to say that I have had no problems and am compliant. I look forward to my appointments and even getting weighed in. I feel he is proud of me and I feel lucky to have had him. He encourages me but lets me know that he has given me the tools and I must do the work. He has done many surgeries and he and Amy agreed with me about which surgery was best for me -- we chose VSG. I cannot say enough about my EXCELLENT care. FYI - he is not at Bowling Green anymore, he is at University of Toledo Medical College Hospital in Toledo.

I have known Dr. Lane since 2004. He is the surgeon that took care of me when I got back from my stupid trip to mexico to get the lapband that didn't work. So when I decided to get the RNY i knew I would go to him because he knew my past history and already had all my information. As far as first impressions go, he is a little dull when you meet him but he lightens up after time. His coordinator Darcy is very nice but she has a very hard time remembering who you are and where you are in your process. Be prepared to refresh her every time you talk to her. And I would stress to you, NEVER leave a message...she wont get back to you for DAYS! Keep calling until she answers! I'm assuming it's because she probablly talks to a lot of people a day, but if you want her to get things done you will need to be persistant. His assistant Amy is very nice...I haven't talked with her that much but when I do she is pleasent. What I liked least about him and his office is that I had to wait ALOT. I mean the whole process is a waiting game but I mean whenever I made appointments it was always a few weeks later and then when I actually had the appointment I waited in the waiting room for at least an hour. I haven't had my surgery yet so I will update this afterwards. But as far as I have gone, I wouldn't change my decision. Dr. Lane is a great doctor and knows all the facts. He makes me feel comfortable in every answer to all my questions. I would recommend him to anyone. But I would also tell them that you might get frustrated with Darcy but all in all they get the job done. I was approved after my first letter to my insurance. If you have any questions about Dr. Lane or anything else feel free to message me!

My mom and I first met with his surgical assistant Amy and she took her time with me and explained everything very well and answered all my questions. rnDr. Lane has recently moved to UT Medical Center in Toledo and is no longer at Wood County Hospital. So there have been some reorganization issues but have worked through them.rnI did get to meet with Dr. Lane once and he covered some further issues and answered more questions about VSG and that he wants me to work up to working out 5 hours a week so this surgery can be successful for me.rnDr. Lane has done over 2000 WLS and has only lost one patient and that was due to an unforseen tumor in the brain. I have had many people tell me he is a great surgeon and takes care of his patients.rnI have not yet had my surgery I am waiting for insurance approval and to se the surgery date.rnI can further evaluate him after my sugery.
