2008 Update: Dr. Nash, Eileen & Judy should all be nominated for Sainthood. rnrnFor me to be comfortable with someone talking about cutting on me, rerouting pipes, etc. is amazing.(my termininology, not his :) After meeting Dr. Nash you'll be comfortable and be completely convinced that there is NOONE on the face of the earth that you had rather do your surgery. Incredibly kind, informative, concerned about the patient and the support system. A thin person who really understands why I'm doing this. Very, very concerned about the welfare of the patient, and treats conservatively. I will be Full RNY, and after speaking with him believe its the right choice. I leave with a stomach feeding tube...why? Just in case. If there is leakage, than I can be fed by the tube while the sutures heal, without re-opening. rnAgain conservative and cautious...and I think he has God,a higher power, whoever guiding his hands. I swear, he just strikes you as the nicest man. He's been doing them for over 20 years. rnGreat Staff! Know their stuff..treat you like a person and its clear they're all workng together with you as a patient.rnAftercare?: Strong emphasis rnSupport group: Yes, for those considering surgery to those who have completed it.rnRisk: reduces risk through stomach tube and blood thinning hours before surgery (two greatest risks, leakage and blood clots)rnWhich is better: During my pre-surgery tests I asked everyone...Whats your impression about Dr. Nash. Everyone gushes so much about his skill, bedside manor, his caring, his office staff, his treatment modalitiy everything. I asked probably 20 different people that work in the hospital... and got 20 non-stop recommendations.rnrn

Dr. Nash is a very caring doctor. His staff is very supported and caring. They are very knowledgeable. His nurse is very good and explains the whole evolution of the by pass surgery. She explains all the risks involved. She gives you all the pros and cons of the surgery in depth. He holds support groups once a month. He can not stress enough the importance of exercise and diet after the surgery. There is nobody beter than him. I am in my 8 month and have been to 7 out of 8 support group. I can not tell you enough how everyone I've meet there thinks so highly of Dr. Nash. What a wonderful man and so caring about each and everyone of his patients.
The only fault I find is that he is so busy that sometimes he doesn't have enough time to really talk to you at his office. But his staff can answer most of your questions.

My wls Surgery was performed oin December 2000...Dr. Donald Nash is a very kind, sensitive doctor who takes time to explain to his patients exactly what to expect before, during and after the WLS surgery.. He cares enough to stay in contact with his patients to make sure they are ok and i also cannot say enough about His office staff who is always there to answer any questions you may have. I can say that if you do exactly as Dr. Nash and Nurse Eileen tells you to do, if you eat exactly as you are told and do not cheat, YOU WILL LOSE the weight!! No cheating is involved, if you do not lose the weight it is because YOU are EATING or drinking VERY HIGH Caloric foods and pretending otherwise, if you don't put it past your lips, it won't rest on your hips! simply as that,,,, i get annoyed when people blame Dr. Nash for their inability to let the pounds go.... i went from a size 26 dress to a size 10, i won't say how much i weighted before, it is too painful to mention, but i do weigh 144 pounds now and i thank GOD for Dr. Nash and for my cardiologist Dr.K Ward who recommended him to me. i want to get down to 135 pounds and i expect to get there by this summer when i can exerxise again, i have not been able to exerxise because of somew old injuries that have kept me still, but following Dr. Nash'ds orders is the key to making this wls surgery work for you, viola canton, i am blessed and proud to be his patient!

Dr. Nash is one of those people who love life and everyone around him. With in seconds I knew this man would be someone to change my life forever. His staff makes you feel like old friends and you like them right away. Within in 10 minutes I felt so confortable that I just wanted to hug all of them. I havn't found any thing to not like about him or his office staff. The best thing is that he spoke to me not at me he made sure I understood what the plan was. He shows up at the group support meetings and other paitents line up to give him a hug.

I had found this board before I had my First appt with DR. Nash so I knew I was in for a very understanding and caring person. When I went to see him at the off first let me say his staff is one of the nicest sets of people I have ever met. Judy at the front desk you could not ask for a more understanding and patient women in the world. Ilene his nurse was just as sweet and kind as Judy. Now DR. Nash he was such a wonderfull person. In all my life of seeing doctors or specialist he is the one I find the most respecful and kind. The whole office is great. There is not another group out there like them. After seeing doctor nash and the team I feel so confortable and confident that I put my health with the right people.

Dr. Nash was a warm and compasionate man. He told us the reality of the surgery, the good the bad. He met with my family, and talked to them as if we were all old friends. Any doubts that I had were gone after meeting him. My PCP referred him to me, and he spoke of him with the highest regard. Meet Dr. Nash, and you will know what I mean when I say their is a spiritual connection.

Dr. Nash seems to be very sincere and passionate about his work.

I have a great amount of respect for him.

The staff is wonderful and very friendly.

There is nothing I least liked.

Dr. Nash is very upfront, kindhearted and easy to talk to.

In my case, being Bipolar, aftercare is most important.

Risks of surgery were well defined but it was also explained that there are risks with any surgery.

I think that I have made an excellent choice for a surgeon.

Both are great!

Dr. Nash first reminded me of Doc from back to the future. He looked a little crazy. :) He knows his stuff though and after talking to him for awhile I was very comfortable with him. Dr. Nash's staff is great. Judy and Eileen are the best. They call you back, they get questions answered, I can't say enough good things about them.

Dr. Nash knows what he is doing, he answered all the questions that I had at the time. When you meet him, just ask anything. He might seem, how shall I say this, a little off? :) But Dr. Nash is kind and caring, and I really believe he knows what he is doing.

Dr. Nash is finally getting a structured aftercare program together, I have yet to be a meeting, but I will let you know how it goes when I do. :)
