My doctor is Dr. Eric Smith. I went for my first visit last week. He seems very nice and willing to answer any questions that I have. The office staff are very nice.

My first impression-he seemed very caring, very informative. So far have only seen him once on initial consult. rnHe did go over the difference btwn lap-band & Gastric and because I am a diabetic, he said the gastric is better for me. So I am going for that one.rnOffice Staff-nice, friendly, helpful.rnI will update with more at I go on.rn

He was effiecient and knowledgeable without being rude or hurried. He is invested in his patients from day one and never looses that interest. He takes your health and success personaly. I would highly recommend him as a sugeon and as a physician but he is much more than that, He becomes a friend and trusted mentor. He changed my life, probably saved it, and it's only a suprise to me. He knew he could was determined to do it and has made sure i have had all resources available to be successful. People say i have done great but i correct them, Dr Smith has done great things for me, i tried everything out there to loose weight, i failed at all of them. I have had success only becaused of Dr. Smith and K.D.M.C. having the program they have and i am smart enough to know that. I am forever indebted to thier wonderful program and may now live long enough to repay them.

Dr. Smith is a really nice guy. My first impressions of him were great. @ the seminar he seemed almost passionate about WLS in general, and he was very kind and attentive to anyone who had questions. I have to be honest here and say that the other surgeon that was presenting w/him seemed bored and was very short w/people's questions. He acted like most of the questions were stupid as opposed to Dr. Smith who answered every question to the best of his ability, and he didn't cut people off either. Another thing that impressed me about Dr. Smith was that after the seminar was over, I stayed for @ least 30 minutes talking to an old friend. I noticed that almost that whole time Dr. Smith was talking to the same man, giving him his undivided attention. That said alot to me. I want my surgeon to be a GREAT surgeon but @ the same time I want him to listen to EVERYTHING that I have to say. In the office Dr. Smith was great also. I've never had alot of questions or concerns but I know he would take the time needed to adress them all if I did. He also did a pre-op Endoscopy on me. I've had one in the past that left me w/a sore throat for awhile but after having this procedure w/Dr. Smith I couldn't even tell that he had done anything involving my throat. He had a great bedside manor during this procedure also. I have not had the surgery yet, I am scheduled for Jan. 30, 2008, and I will let everyone know how it went but as of right now, I feel very confident in Dr. Smith, and I'm extremely glad he's doing my surgery:) rnUPDATE: I am now a close to 4 and half months out from surgery, and I have to say that my opinion of Dr. Smith has only gotten better, if that's possible. My surgery went GREAT, and I still have had no complications whatsoever. Dr. Smith's aftercare program, and the Surgical Weight Loss Team @ KDMC have been absolutely wonderful. I feel that one of the biggest reasons that I have had no complications is because of Dr. Smith's competance as a surgeon, and the very involved preparation that the Sugical Weight Loss Team put me through before surgery. I give my thanks to Dr. Smith and the Surgical Weight Loss Team (especially Rayetta Parker, R.N.) for helping me to get my life back!!!

My first impression of Dr. Smith was that he was very down to earth and attentive to his patients needs and concerns. At the seminar I attended, he answered all my questions in depth and I was very impressed. My impression of him is still the same. He is truely a nice man and very professional. I feel I made the right choice going with Dr. Smith. His office staff are great too. If you want a doctor that is friendly and considerate, you can't go wrong with Eric Smith. He came to see me at bedside 2 times in the same day after my surgery. He is surgically competent and has a great bedside manner! I am very happy with my doctor!
