I have been very impressed with the staff and the doctor himself. They put you through alot of tests to make sure you are a good candidate for surgery. I had an EDG done and discovered that I had Gastritus. Aftercare is a big part of the program. They have support meetings once a month and special events that go on also, a xmas party is planned for dec 10th with food everone can eat. I have learned alot from the pre-op book that they gave me at the office. I'm sure I'll be fine after surgery, I'll let everyone know how i did, Mary

My first impression of Dr. Bonanni was great. I already knew alot about him from reading and asking around, and when I met him it just confirmed what I already knew.

My impression has not changed, and probably will not.

The office staff at Reading Surgical Associates is WONDERFUL. They are all so friendly and very very very helpful.

There honestly isn't any complaints about Dr. Bonanni.

He is very nice & caring & a pleasure to meet.

I think everybody, not just your doctor, emphasizes aftercare, it's very important in the success.

I'm sure, but I didn't have my pre-op class yet to know what it is.

Basically just gave all of the risks flat out. I was in a meeting with other people and in that meeting they informed all of us. Also at support groups.

9 on a 10 scale

The program is very organized. I began the journey in January 2004 with a overview at the local hospital. The entire process was described in detail... including preliminary appointment, psychologist, nutritionist and physical therapist before even seeing the doctor. It was a learning journey that I found quite reassuring... and I followed it to the letter. Even though I had over an hour trip to the office from my home, I was completed and signed up for surgery within four months! The office staff was great at helping get insurance coverage (Paula was wonderful) and the Dr. Bonnani is a peach. I felt as if I was in good hands. I am still being followed, of course, and se a nutritionist who is available by phone all the time. I had a great experience and I rate Dr. Bonanni as the best!

Dr.Bonanni is a very nice man,he is very concerned about his patiants. My impression never changed during my experiance with him.His staff and office are very friendly and professional. There is nothing I didn't like about Dr.Bonanni,I liked him very much,if I had to do it all over again he would be the one I would choose.I felt very safe in his care.Dr.Bonanni,puts you through many, many tests. But keep in mind it's all for the good of you.By the time you have your surgey, your ready for it.He will emphasize aftercare very strongly, when I met him for the first time,He said,We will know each other for along time,I feel this is very important. He has a very structured aftercare program. He was very honnest about this being major surgey, that it's only a tool to weight loss, not a magic bullet.I rate Dr.Bonanni as the best there is.His surgical competence and bedside manner are both great.

The staff at Reading Surgical Assoc. are phenomenol. Paula is especially caring, friendly and informative. I just recently met with Dr. Bonnani and just loved him. Wonderful bedside manner, very caring, warm, and friendly physician. I have been very nervous about this whole thing but after meeting Dr. Bonnani, that kind of "sealed the deal" for me and I now feel I will be in total good hands of caring individuals all through my journey.

I have to give Dr. Bonanni two thumbs up plus some! My first impression was that he was confident, knowledgable, and trustworthy. I thought to myself that I am definately going to be okay going through with this....(I didn't go through with it the first time, but I hadn't met him yet.)
He was clear on the dangers and risk, yet he openly said should anything go wrong I'll be right there to do everything he can to get things back on the up and up! I felt really at ease and confident after meeting with him.
My respect for him is even greater now after having the surgery! As I was in the holding area waiting to go into surgery, I was there with about 15 other people ready to go in. He was the only Dr. that came out to talk to me before going into surgery! Everyone else was talked to by one of the nurses. I was highly impressed! It made me feel at ease and that I just wasn't another operation that he has to do day in and day out. He was there the next to days at the hospital checking in and made sure all was going well!
His staff is Excellent as well! I just love Paula and Teresa(the dietician). But all of them are Equal....they just are a great bunch of nurses, office personnel etc.
I am so glad God brought Reading Surgical Associates on my path of winning at this weight loss battle! Jen

I had done a lot of research before attending Dr Bonanni's information forum, but after hearing his presentation on WLS I realized that he was the doctor for me. The entire staff at Reading Surgical Assoicates is friendly, caring and dedicated to the patients. I find the support group extremely helpful in assisting me thru each phase of the process.

Overall I would rate Reading Surgical Assoc. a 10+.

First impression was that he was a very warm caring and knowledgeable surgeon. That only increased as I had my surgery and a minor complication after surgery. He was there for me and very understanding and compassionate. The office staff is incredible and easy to work with. The only thing I dislike is their automated phone system. I feel confident that any new patients of Dr. Bonanni's will find him absolutely wonderful. This practice really stresses commitment before, during and after surgery. They have onsite nutritionist (who is awesome), they also have on-site physical therapist and psychiatrist. Before surgery is even considered you must attend an information session that is about 2 hours and you are given a very detailed bookled about the surgery and risks. The doctor will also discuss this with you when he meet you. The aftercare program is very structured and the support groups meetings are very informative and casual. Both surgical competence and bedside manner are great. There are a few negatives: At my post operative checkups I met with the physicians assistant instead of the surgeon (which I would have preferred). I also still have some numbing in my lower right abdomen where some nerves were cut during surgery and some right side "muscle" pain when I do ab work which is definitely related to the surgery.

Dr. Bonanni was positive, very competent, and has great office staff to assist with questions and patient education.
The office is very busy, but someone always can address your question.
His new partner Dr. Beetle saw me post-op in the hospital, and he is young and more willing to spend time answering questions.
The office has a Newsletter that is sent to your home, and a monthly support group at Reading Hospital.
I was very well educated about the risks of surgery by Paula Beam, the Coordinator of the program.
I would rate the surgeon as excellent in terms of ability and friendliness, but he always seems too busy.
