On 11/30/06 I went to Dr. Ballantyne's free seminar. I walked in determined that it would be Lap-Band or nothing for me, and walked out having decided to go with the gastric bypass.rnrnI did all the required testing, and on 1/4/07 I had my personal consultation with Dr. Ballantyne. He is a no-fuss doctor, but that doesn't matter to me. He's a busy man, and I attribute that to his skill - after all, would he be so in demand if he weren't good at what he does?rnrnMy surgery has been scheduled for Monday, March 12, 2007. I have to do the psych consult yet, but I am fairly confident that I will pass! LOL
My first impression of him was just Okay.
My impression of him changed for the worse overtime.
The office staff was great in the beginning, but now, they stink.
He has no bedside manners.
He's a great surgion, but don't expect him to hold your hand.
He emphasizes aftercare alot, however, he should practice what he preaches.
He addresses the risks of surgery properly.
From 1-10 (1 being the lowest), I will give him a 5.
Surgical competence.
My first impression of Dr. Ballantyne was of a person that cares about his patients. He is an excellent "one on one" doctor, and I am glad I chose him. His office staff is great! Anything that I need, they are there for me. Future patients should be encouraged to go to Dr. Ballantyne. He is, how do the young ones say, oh yeah
"The Bomb"! The doctor emphasizes aftercare like crazy. In fact that is one of the things that helped me make my decision. He is straight forward and does not beat around the bush like others. He explained all the risks of the surgery very thoroughly. Overall I would rate Dr. Ballantyne a very high 8 out of 10. Both his bedside and his surgical were more than excellent they were outstanding!
When I first met Dr. Ballantyne at his seminar, I felt he was extremely knowledgeable and highly respected, but I wasn't that impressed with his "bedside" manner. I am pleased and happy to report that my initial judgement was totally wrong. When I went to see him for my personal consultation he was warm and caring, took plenty of time explaining things to me. I like him very much and would recommend him to anyone looking for an excellent surgeon in the North Jersey/New York City area. I haven't had that much interaction with his office staff as yet so I can't say anything one way or the other about them. Dr. Ballantyne stresses over and over the importance of aftercare. He addresses the risks and potential benefits of surgery. I am pleased that I am able to have such a fine surgeon and kind man.
I felt very comfortable having him as my surgeon, I did not meet other doctors once I met him.
I still feel that he is a brilliant surgeon.
His office staff was wonderful and supportive.
He emphasized that if he was to do the surgery I would be seeing him for the rest of my life.
He was very imformative about the risks of the surgery.
very talkative, office staff very nice,doesn't spend too much extra time when you visit,emphazied aftercare a lot, i rate him a 9.5 out of 10,
Dr. Ballantyne is a very competent and thorough doctor. His staff is excellent. He tends to be very straight forward and pulls no punches, which I prefer. I don't really care about the personality of my physician, I just want them to be the best surgeon they can be. Would I recommend him? Yes.
ON 8/6/03 I TOOK MY BEST FRIEND (WHO IS 6 WEEKS POST OP FROM A D.S.) TO MY CONSULT WITH DR. BALLANTYNE. HE WAS SO NICE. MY CONSULT LASTED OVER AN HOUR. HE TOTALLY TOOK HIS TIME WITH ME & EXPLAINED EVERYTHING. AFTER WE WERE DONE - HE EVEN ASKED IF WE HAD ANY QUESTIONS OF HIM.
HIS OFFICE STAFF WAS SO PLEASANT. I HAVE NO CONCERNS WITH DR. B. OR HIS STAFF WHILE GOING THROUGH THIS JOURNEY & AM ACTUALLY LOOKING FOWARD TO IT.
Met with the doctor again on April 18 2003
and he was compasionate and sympathetic
on my situation and he is extremely professional and I have confidence in him
and his practice. The staff Rosemarie and Jane are the sweetest people. They're dolls!!! Extremely nice office and staff are
top notch!!!! AWESOME!!!! What an office!!!
DR. B IS EXTREMELY PROFESSIONAL AND SURGERY WAS SMOOTH SAILING. I RECOMMEND HIM 100% TO ANYONE CONSIDERING HAVING WLS LAP. HE IS A SWEETHEART!!!!!!!!!!!!
