Dr. Kakkilaya gave me a new life! He is professional, patient, and helpful. The doctor and his staff really care and provide on-going support throughout your entire journey. There were plenty of doctors in the city much closer to my home, but it is worth the travel to have Dr. K. I couldn't have done this without him!

I had a vertical sleeve gastrectomy done by Dr. Kakkilaya in early September 2010. The overall experience was completely positive. It has been about 6 months and I've lost almost 85 lbs. since the start of my pre-surgical diet and I'm still on my way down.

I'd be hard pressed to even think of anything negative to mention in this review. Dr. K and the rest of the staff have been tremendous. It started from the moment I went in for a private consultation, on through the group information session, and through the various classes and support groups that are required. They've been excellent all the way up through my 6-month follow-up which I had earlier this week.

My surgery went off without a hitch. I was out of the hospital the next morning and never had any complications of any kind. Beyond the actual surgery itself, I felt like all the information that was provided to me was a big help in making my decision to go through with it. Every question I had was answered and I was thoroughly prepared for surgery and for life afterward. There have been no surprises and I was educated on all the possible complications (of which, the only I've had is some occasional heart burn).

I can't think of anything I would change and I don't have a single regret about doing the surgery or about choosing Dr. Kakkilaya to do it. I would recommend him and his team to anyone. It was a difficult decision to make because it's such a life-changing event, but being helped by team of friendly, helpful professionals made it so much easier.
