James Classen Bariatric Surgeon M.D.,F.A.C.S.

I had my RNY in December 2015. Dr. Classen is highly respected by my primary Dr. and my insurance company. And they were not afraid to say so. Because of his reputation I was totally at ease going into this surgery. I had researched the operation and his credentials in depth before meeting with him. He answered all of my questions in detail and made sure I understood what he was telling me. At no time did I ever feel rushed or that my questions were not valid. He does not waste words so I am always ready with a list of questions for him.
I have had great success with the operation and am off all of my diabetes medications and am looking forward to experiencing all life has to offer. It is my belief that if you choose Dr. Classen as your surgeon you are placing your life in very skilled hands.
When I was in the hospital my nurse shared with me that they loved taking care of Dr, Classen's and Dr. Davidson's patients because they always had such great results and did not seem to have the complications that other patients had.
Dr. Classen and his staff will prepare you well. They will make sure that you are ready for the lifestyle changes. After your surgery you will have support meetings where you can meet others who have had surgery or are getting ready to have surgery. You can even learn new recipes to incorporate. They have nutritionist classes you can attend before and after. The whole staff works together to support you and give you the tools to be successful throughout your journey.

At first Dr. Classen seemed aloof, not that it mattered much. What was more important was the information I read about his well documented skills and ability.
He warms up if you warm up to him. You need to listen to him, or he will scold you.
Overall, I think that he is likely the best in the area, perhaps in the State of NC.
My surgery went without any problem. I feel better than I ever have. Thank you, Dr. Classen!

Ok first off IF you have any questions ask them up front already, quit being a chickenfoot. Dr. Classen is a sweet guy but he can NOT read your mind. I absolutely adore him. He is blunt honest and lets you know when you have screwed up. Just follow his rules and you will do fine.

He was very kind. Explained everything perfectly. He made sure of everything I was getting myself into. A lot of his office staff had the procedure as well, so there were experienced people who have been big before so they would know a lot about the psychological issues before and after surgery. They were all honest and friendly. They have large support groups and a structured aftercare program. I would recommend him to anyone interested. Both surgical competence and bedside manner was wonderful. I felt I was in perfectly capable and caring hands.

I was very impressed with Dr. Classen at the WLS Seminar I attended. Both he and Dr. Davidson were extremely knowlegable and took the time to answer any question that was asked. Dr Classen is very professional and was willing to listen to my concerns during my initial consultation. He addressed all the risks of the surgery.

Dr. Classen is a very no-nonsense kind of doctor. He is very straight to the point and if you have something to ask or say, you'd better do it right off! He was excellent in performing my surgery. If I to do it all over again or recommend him to anyone, I most certainly would. He may be slightly abrupt, but he is one awesome surgeon! I rate him a 10 on the scale of 1 - 10. He is very adament about going to support meetings. His office staff and especially his nurse are all wonderful. Anytime I had a problem and needed to speak to the nurse she called me promptly back and was the most kindest and caring of any person I've ever had to talk to on the phone. Dr. Classen is definitely the way to go if you are looking for a surgeon in Fayetteville, NC or the surrounding area!

My first impression was a good one , He answered all my questions,The office staff is great, very friendly.Dr. Classen and Dr. Davidson both will be doing my surgery, they are from the same office, have heard all good things about both.They are really big on the after care the progran is structured. He addressed all the risks, and I rate my surgeons 9 out of 10, their bedside manor seems to be very good so far, my surgery date is 5/19/2008, so we shall see!!!!!

Dr. Classen was a very warm and caring Doctor. I felt very comfortable with him from the begining. His staff is very attentive and my contact for questions has first hand knowlege of RNY since she also had the surgery. The centers support group is outstanding. I would rate this center with an A++. I have only praise for Dr. Classen and his center.

I was really impressed with Dr Classen at the seminar. He was very detailed in his description in all aspects of the procedure, pre-op, the actual procedure, and post op care. He really believes in post op care, and strongly advises his patient to attend support groups as much as possible before and after surgery...He seems to have a great bedside manner, and also to be a very competent Dr. i will fill you in more, after my consultation visit on Monday.
