James Ku Bariatric Surgeon M.D.

I waited an extremely long time for him to come in the room. He seemed knowledgeable and friendly. Staff was nice but really didn't have much contact with anyone. The meetings that I had with him were very brief.I met with the residence more than I did him. They have people coming back quite often to see him for follow up care and to see nutritionist.

He was very in touch with what he was doing. If my memory serves me right he has been doing this type of surgery for atleast 15 years. He was always nice to me even though I had a rough time of it. His staff was very pleasant to me each and every time I went to his office. The only problem I had with him was the "quick" visits he paid you while I was in the hospital.
If you are going to have Dr Ku as your surgeon he will take the time to answer any and all questions that you might have. He had a large group of students with him most of the time. He was and is very concerned about the aftercare. There were two ladies who work with him in making sure that you are aware of what to eat what to do and not do.
From the first he informed me that as with any type of major surgery there are risks. He went on and explained them to me plus all of it was written down so that you could take it home and read it again.
Overall he was and is a very good doctor and I would recommed him to anyone.

I first saw Dr. Ku at the Orientation group and I felt he seemed caring and knowledgable.

The staff at HMC is very efficient and caring. I've had no problems, everyone takes time with you, especially the nutrition staff.

He explained all the risks to me and how the surgery is done. He had no impatience about answering all of my questions and told me to contact him if I had any others.

My only concern with Dr. Ku was that he hadn't done as many of these surgeries as the other 2 Dr's there. But what is comforting is that he is a trauma surgeon and when I went to the support group and questioned his patients they had nothing but good things to say about him. They all think he's the best so I feel like I'm in good hands.

Saw Dr. Ku Today (5-15). The office staff was great and my first impression of him is that he is a very knowledgeable caring surgeon. He explained the surgery in detail and answered all my questions and took his time with me. I would recommend him to any other person thinking about the surgery through the Hershey Medical Center.
