I really like Dr. Genaw. He is very blunt and to the point. He tells you like it is and doesn't hold anything back. He is very caring and really likes making a difference in people's lives. I feel 100% safe with him. His support staff is just as caring. I was with another surgeon before and I'm thankful that God lead me to HFH and Dr. Genaw. The program there is fantastic!! If I had to say anything bad about Dr. Genaw is that he tells you how it is. "Not exercising atleast 20 minutes five times a week? Then you're not exercising." Be prepared when you see him to hear the truth the whole and nothing but the truth!!

I worked in the OR when Dr. Genaw first started doing these surgeries and was very impressed by his compassion then, so I always said that if I ever had this surgery, I only wanted him to do it. Now that I have met him again from the standpoint of a patient, I find him even more competant and compassionate. My experience with Henry Ford now as a patient instead of an employee is a very positive one. Things went very fast once I got the insurance approval.

I met with Dr. Jeffrey Genew on Friday, October 31, 2003. Right from the start he made me feel at ease. He treated me as if I was the only person in his office. You are able to see that Dr. Genew and his staff care about you. Before the first visit with Dr. Genew, Wanda sets you up to attend a seminar, which educates you about the surgery, and you listen to their nutritionist talk. After you attend the seminar, you set your appointment to meet with Dr. Genew. When I was at my appointment with Dr. Genew, I asked him some questions that I had after doing research on the surgery. He was very patient with me and made sure I had no other questions. He talked about how important eating correctly and exercising is. He has you meet with an exercise specialist at the hospital to help you develop and exercise program. He has a very structured aftercare program. You will be meeting with Wanda; Dr. Genew and the nutritionist on you follow up appointments. I would highly recommend Dr. Genew to anyone looking to have Bariatric Surgery.

My first impression of Dr. Jeffrey Genaw was a great one. We met during my consultation with him to discuss the surgery and everything that it would entail. He was very good about answering any questions that I had.

Dr. Genaw's staff was EXCELLENT before, during, and after surgery. Big shout out to Wanda and Flo. You are wonderful!

Everyone should know that Dr. Genaw is not only a GREAT Surgeon but, he is a great person. He is young, funny, and very good at what he does.

Dr. Genaw's surgical competence and bedside manner is a strong 10+ on any 1-10 scale.

Therefore, if you are considering bariatric surgery, go to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI.

Thanks Dr. Genaw! You gave me a new life.

I was impressed with Dr. Genaw from the first time that I met him. I have seen him twice and am glad that he will be doing my surgery. I liked that it did not seem like he was trying to rush through the appointments to get to the next person.

His staff is excellent and very knowledgable about the surgery process. Also very encouraging.

Dr. Genaw is very nice and is friendly.

He and his staff emphasize aftercare, very much. I feel that they have a structured aftercare program. You know before surgery how often and pretty much when you will be seeing the doctor after surgery.

Dr. Genaw and his staff have a 4 hour orentiation meeting with his nurse and a dietician that patients must attend before they see the doctor for the first time. This meeting is very informative and covers the prepartation before surgery, the surgery and the aftercare. This includes all of the changes that are to be made before and after the surgery.

So far, I have been pleased with all the aspects of Dr. Genaw and his staff.

I finally got to meet Dr. Jeffery Genaw late last week after about 5-6 months. His nurse assistant would not schedule a meeting until I had been insurance approved and attended a nutrition/informational session - which was great by the way.

Anyway, I arrive at my 11:20 appointment about 15 mins early as I have to travel about 1.5 hours to get there. At 12:15, at the 55 minute mark and me just about boiling over they take me back. I get weighed (gained! since I started this process), and get to meet with Wanda (Nurse - runs the show) who puts me with a serious intern since the doc still isn't avail. They say there was some mixup and he was doing some surgery and would be up shortly, finally after about 2.5 hours I just about run out of time and tell them I need to be going. I talk to another person that had a 1:00 and was already in the back at 1:15 and she said she seen someone out in the waiting room that had a 9:00 appointment! Yikes, the show is a bit ragged today!

Finally I meet him just as I give up and was about to leave. So you can just about imagine my mood. Not really sure how to put the rest into words....hmm....lets just say that 1/2 hour later I was extremely impressed, felt taken care of and had all my questions answered. What a nice, caring doctor - no wonder he was late. He gave NO indication he had anything else to do that day except explain things and take an interest in me and my issues. If he does that with every patient he must never get done. I am so glad I waited, he, and his staff were well worth it.

My first impression of him was that he was really nice and personable. They get the job done and I do appreciate, very much, how they got me in so fast (I had to have it done over the summer with time enough to recuperate b4 school started back up).

I had my initial consultation with Dr. Batay-Csorba on June 17, 2002. The nurse who brought me in was very personable and compassionate. Dr. Batay-Csorba explained the procedure to me and was very interested in making sure that I asked any questions that I might have. He made deeper inquiries about my medical history and pronounced me "a candidate" for the surgery. He made the risks and results very clear. Next I met Melanie, the patient advisor, who has also had the surgery. She explained the importance of aftercare as well as recommended that I attend a group discussion if possible before my surgury, should I decide to do it. I am currently waiting to hear from my insurance company and everyday am becoming more excited at the prospect of becoming a thinner, more healthy, more active person.

Due to BTC not being "in-network" for anyone... I am looking into Dr. Kligman in Toledo. I have heard many, many good things about him and am planning to attend a seminar with him on Dec 10.

Dr. Kligman is booked past Dec. 2003. I am currently working with Henry Ford Health Systems who has put everyone else to shame as far as being organized and devoted to their patients.

I met Dr.Jeffery Genaw when I had some minor surgery at the hospital he was at and we were talking and realized he knows my little sister they went to school together, but I liked him right away before I knew the connection. I felt comfortable with him and found him to be very personable. I have not met with him as of yet for my 1st consultation, but his staff seems to be very helpful and genuinely concerned.
I can't say anything negitive as of yet, my 1st appointment is in May.

My first consulation was on February 14, 2003 with Dr. Genaw. He came to see me with his smile and he shakes my hand with a squeeze. that shows that he is strong, and has confidence and he seems caring. He has a good sense of humor. He seems like a cool and relax doctor and is patient with me and explained clearly everything. After he left and the nurse, Wanda came, she is such a sweetheart and seems very caring and very patient with me when we had a long talk and she planned my surgery date for me. She was the best. I would give her A++++ and his staff was great too. God bless them all! Smile :o)
