It’s been 1.5 years since Dr. Koppman fixed my hernia. My scars are completely faded and unnoticeable in a bikini. I wrote a blog on the post-surgery activity and was grateful to have returned to full fitness training quickly, as well as work as an international flight attendant with little concern. I have had no complications since. It was worth the aggravation.

I also got a great referral from Dr. Koppnan for a vascular surgeon in town to have a varicose vein fixed. I’m grateful it can be dealt with via ablation and no surgery.

I was just sleeved on 9/14/11 with Dr. Koppman. I have to say that my entire experience with him, his staff and even the nurses at Flagler was the best ever. From start to finish, everyone has been patient and kind, but they also make you do what you have to do (like walking after surgery). This is by far my best experience in any medical setting. I would recommend Dr. Koppman and US Bariatrics to anyone considering the surgery. I was absolutely terrified since I have never had surgery and have a young child at home, but they did their best to comfort me.

-He was a very approachable, friendly person.
-My impression did not change of him.
-His office staff in friendsly and knowledgeable.
-The only thing I do not like is his lack of experience, but only in comparison to his partner, Robert Marema.
-I am not as of yet knowledged in his aftercare. I will update.
- He did use honesty in our meetings, but he is very confident.
- On a scale of one to ten it would be a 9.
-Both bedside manner and surgical competence are great.

Through Pre op he is just very nice and comforting. I am not worried at all.

My first impression of Dr. Koppman was very positive. He is down to earth and personable. Through the whole process of pre-op appointments, surgery, and post-op care Dr. Koppman listens to his patients. He takes time to make sure that questions are answered and everything about the surgery is explained in detail. The pre-op appointment is where all of the risks of surgery are discussed. Dr. Koppman was careful to review every detail and explain in plain English what could go wrong during and after the surgery. While this was unsettling, I feel it should be. This surgery is major surgery. I could not be happier with my treatment from Dr. Koppman. He is an excellent surgeon with a wonderful bedside manner. The Baratric Department staff at Sinai is pleasant and helpful, as well. Everyone is welcoming and makes a scary and overwhelming process a lot easier. Overall, I would recommend Dr. Koppman to anybody who is considering gastric bypass surgery.

My first comment has to be about the Sinai Bariatric program itself. I did a lot of looking around at other programs but once I attended the pre-surgery orientation and support groups, I knew that Sinai was the only program for me. Sinai was the only program I found that took a pro-active, hands-on approach to informed weight loss surgery – even before you have the surgery. rnrnI met Dr. Koppman at my second information session. Like Marcia H., I was a little concerned because he was the “new guy”. Those concerns were quickly laid to rest after only a few minutes of talking with him. I found him to be a thorough and down to earth individual – and that’s really important to me. I found him to be someone who was able to explain each and every point of the procedures and answer all of my questions. Most notably he demonstrated a great deal of patience when it came to my hypothetical “what if…” questions. rnrnIt’s the first week in February and that means that I’m one month out from my gastric bypass surgery with Dr. Koppman – and I feel great. I’m down about 45 lbs. from my initial consultation weight – WOW! My recovery has been smooth and I was well informed as to what I should expect post-op. Dr. Koppman was readily available to address any questions or concerns that I had following my discharge.rnrnBut really, congratulations go out to the entire Bariatric Team at Sinai for my success so far – but truth be told, from what I’ve seen, they’re more like a close family. They’re really supportive of the patients as well as each other. It’s an uplifting experience to go to the nutrition classes, the support groups, as well as the follow-ups! Thank you Dr. Koppman and the Sinai Bariatric Team!rn

I am having surgery with Dr. John Koppman. He recently came to Sinai Hospital from the Clevelanc Clinic in Florida. At first I was unsure about having the surgery with him because he was new to Sinai, but he seems to be working well with the team there. I think he is great! He was very thorough in explaining everything to me (the surgery, what to expect in the hospital, what to expect at home, etc.) and made sure that I knew what was going to happen. He has a sense of humor which was important for me. I need a doctor who can take care of me, but who isn't afraid to laugh either! After my surgery he kept me in the hospital for a few days longer because he wanted to be sure that everything was okay - this was fine with me! I preffered to be close by if anything happened. Dr. Koppman is supported by a great team at the hospital! The nutritionist (Nancy), nurses (Danielle, Karen, etc.), and the office staff (Eileen and Tina, etc.) are all wonderful - very responsive.
