I had my lapband surgery in 06 and have not been successful in losing the weight. It just feel like the band is in my chest. I feel sore and swollen alot and I have alot of trouble with my asthema. I too liked Dr. Olsofka at first. He was more than willing to answer any q's I had. Lana is such a sweetheart. However, when I am seen I try to tell him things that are bothering me and things I am feeling. He just shruggs it of like I am just imagining things. He can be be nice, because I have seen it. I wish now I would have went with a different doctor that had better bedside, only because when you are going through problems you need someone to support you and help you. Not make you feel like it's all in your head. We all have to deal with enough by being overweight. I can see how people like him at first he is so friendly in the seminar and at the hosp. These statements are only of my personal experience. I have heard people say they really like him and are having no problem.

He is very knowledgeable about the procedure. I liked him from the moment I met him. The office staff is very friendly and helpful. The office visits I had were very brief, but he always asked me several times if I had any other questions or concerns. I had my surgery through Saints Mary & Elizabeth Hospital. The staff there is very fiendly and through, I would recommend anyone to their Bariatric Program!! They have an RN named Debbie that has been through the procedure and is was there with me throughout the whole process!!

I liked Dr. Olsofka before the surgery but it was all donhill after my lap-band. I don't think he took time to listen to the problems I had after my 1st fill. I have attempted to have my band filled twice with awful problems. I did visit him several times to seek help but he is always in a hurry. I was rushed out with no answers each time and did not want to return. I had a baby In October 2008 and even with an empty band had multiple problems. I was admitted to the hospital due to complications from my band and induced several weeks early because of the complications. I am now waiting to see another surgeon to see if he can fix or remove my band. It is very difficult to find another physician who will work on you if they did not perform your surgery. rnThe one thing that was wonderful at the office was the two nurses who only deal with Lap-band patients. They have always been very sweet, able to take time to talk to you, and really seem concerned about the patient. rnDr. Olsofka made me feel like my issues were not real and I needed to deal with it. I would not recomend him to anyone.

dr o is very brief and to the point. no hand holding or codling. His bedside manner lacks where his surgical competence is excellent.

Dr Olsafka was very nice and thorough. He took time to talk with me even though they were running behind that day. I am still preop but so far, I have been really pleased.

I went to Louisville Surgical Associates and was assigned to Dr. John Olsafka. There are three surgeons that do the lap band in the office. I have been very satisfied with Dr. Olsafka. He is very professional and caring. I do think his fill schedule could be adjusted to help get restriction earlier. His first fill is at 6 weeks out and then you come in every 6 weeks for the the first 3 months and then it moves to every 12 weeks. I feel like that should be moved to every 4 weeks until you achieve good restriction. Fortunately, I had restriction pretty much from the beginning so I didn't have too much problem with waiting but I could see how it could be a problem for others. I like the way he does fills as well. He has you lay down and do a crunch to find the port, then you sit up and start drinking water as he inserts saline. You let him know when the water stops going down and then he starts taking out fluid until you feel it go down. It seems to work very well to get a good level of restriction. I''ve only been too tight once and that was my fault. I knew it but thought I could deal with it. I lasted about 3 days and decided I couldn't handle the night reflux. He met me on Friday afternoon to let a little out. He was very understanding.

My first impression of both Doctors at Bluegrass Baratrics were that they were both gorgeous. I found very quickly that they were gorgeous on the inside as well.

Dr. Olsofka was very nice and courteous. He sat down in front of me and basically discussed the lap band procedure and risk involved. He listened closely to my questions and answered them very honestly and openly with supportive medical statistics and up to date research for validation. I have only met with him once and he says that I am a excellant candidate for the lap band procedure. His office staff were very courteous and helpful. I have talked with his office staff numerous times over the phone for guided assistance in getting needed medical records or test results in efforts to getting my insurance to approve paying for the surgery. They have been very acceptable and eager in assisting me with what ever issues or problems that may or can arrise.
