Jon Gabrielsen Bariatric Surgeon
Dr. Gabrielsen was very personable and knowledgeable. He made sure I understood my options and helped me make an informed choice. I had my gallbladder removed during my RNY. There were no complications and two days later I'm feeling pretty good. I'd definitely recommend him.

First and foremost, I want to make all aware how appriciative I am that we are able to communicate our likes and dislikes towards an experience with our Dr. Now, I must say thus far I do not have any dislikes for Dr. G! He is overall a well rounded Dr, he explins everything in detial, gives you ample time for questions throughout the entire time you are with him-- each visit and offers his e-mail and to call any time with questions or concerns. Not only do I feel good about that I also feel good that he did not come off in any particular way other than happy and focused and determinded to take care of you and your health. He has great bedside mannor-- which is a huge plus for me and not only for after surgery but the overall experience prior to and future ones to come. My surgery is set for March 3rd 2014 and I am very confindent that Dr. G is going to do a great job at taking care of me. I have recommended my Mother to him-- not for surgery however for a speciality other than that.

I was relieved when I met Dr. Gabrielsen for my surgeon consult. He was patient, kind, informative, and willing to answer any question that I had (although I didn't have any!)I really liked that while he quoted the usual 50-60% EWL statistics to me during my consult that he said "This is in no way an indicator of how well one person can do and I think you're an excellent candidate for VSG surgery." He was keeping it real, yet being encouraging! Everything went well with surgery and I have had no complications. I'm glad that I had him as my surgeon!

I cant say enough positive things about Dr. Gabrielsen, as a single mother of 2 kids, I wanted someone who would remember that I was not just another procedure, but that it was very important that he did the best job he could because I have to be ok to go back home to them. infact when I went for my initial appt, I took my kids w/ me not only so he would remember that, but also so that they could ask him any questions they had. Dr. Gabrielson was great w/ them and me, he explained everything in detail down to a drawn description, and he answered all questions from me and my son w/o hesitation. he didnt even blink when my son asked him exactly where he went to school, how long and how many of my procedures has he done? it was very important that we picked a surgeon that had enough experience but wasnt just doing as many as he could fit in his schedule. also on the morning of the surgery I remember him coming into the or as I was being prepped, he took my hand and reasurred me that everything was going to go great! that helped alot! you could not ask for a more compassionate, caring surgeon.
Dr Gabrielsen is fantastic! My 1st appt he spent almost 2 hours with me and my husband. He explained everything and answered all of my questions thoroughly. He came to visit me in the hospital, and he has great bedside manner... You could tell that he genuinely cares about me as a person, not just a procedure. I would recommend him to anyone!

I just LOVE this man!!!!! I cannot say enough about how kind and compassionate he is. He gave a good first impression at my initial consult, gave me a thorough discussion about complications and occurrence percentages, answered all my questions, did not make me feel rushed and spoke in a manner that anyone could understand what he meant. His staff and other interns and associates have been wonderful as well. He doesn't have as much experience as Dr Petrick but if he isn't chosen as your surgeon, how is he expected to get it? I had total confidence in him.rnrnDuring my hospital stay, I experienced nausea to a tremendous degree that I was concerned about a blockage. He saw me 3 times during my stay (4 days) and sat and talked to me and my mother for a good 20 minutes each time just to reassure us that things were progressing, just slower than normal.rnrnIf I had to pick something negative, it was that I didn't get a chance to see him on the morning of surgery. Even if it was just to ease any nerves. I don't know if this is normal for him or if there was another case which took him away.

Was somewhat concerned when selecting him as my surgeon from Geisinger-Danville at how few lapbands he had performed. After meeting him and his patience in answering all of my questions his experience, I was pleased with my choice. On the day of surgery, the anesthesiologist threw a cog in the wheel by saying that I would have to stay overnight because of sleep apnea. Dr. G got on the phone himself with the hospital arranging transportation for me to get home the next day (long story of why no transportation). rnrnHe has been wonderful all the way. I was banded on 6/1/09 and going for my second fill in a week. I would highly recommend him to anyone going to Geisinger Hospital.rn

I would reccomend him to anyone. He was so supportive. The staff( especially Michelle) are awesome. He took his time and answered any questions I had and I never felt rushed. I had a small complication after surgery and the support I received from Dr Gabrieson was amazing he made feel as if he truly cared and did as much as he could to help the situation.
First Impression: Wow, he's younger than I thought he'd be. But, he knows his stuff, I would recommend him to any one who is thinking about this surgery. His staff is great as well, they were ALL competent, and friendly. They made me feel like I was worth being attended to. I can't say anything negative about him or his team.
