My first impression of Dr. Snow was that he is a true professional. I still feel that he was the best surgeon that I could have paid for but I do feel that his \"aftercare\" ideas are a little strange. He stresses not to eat if you are not hungry and that nobody ever died from not eating for a couple of days. I agree and disagree with this. I do think it is important to monitor our hunger levels but I don't think it's a good idea for us not to eat at all either. Having said that, I would still pick him to be my surgeon again. He knows the important stuff and the other can be left to the dietian. I rate him very high. Found out that he will be retiring in Dec. 08.

Dedicated, Strict. I loved his nurses and even him. He only wanted me to eat a cracker instead of protein. He got mad at me for eating. He was very thorough and takes very good care of me.

Dr Snow is a fantisitc surgeron as is his partners. He took around 3 hrs to talk to a group of people and tell us about the RNY. I was so excited. I wanted mine done \"now\".rnThe office staff are very professional, careing and supportative. rnThe risks of the surgery were explained. I knew the risks, as I use to work in a hosptial.rnI would recommend anyone to use Dr. Snow as a surgeron.rnDr. Snow has a great bedside manner and a caring smile everytime I see him.

First impression of Dr. Snow, was mature, knowledgeable, made u feel comfortable and at home great bedside manner, knows his stuff and explains it all so very well just do as he says and everything will be ok. He makes sure you're well informed about before during and after surgery care.rnrnOffice staff Patricia and Mary were great willing to help and answer questions.rnNurses and secretary's were a bit abrupt not that friendly but i'm sure they have stresses and doing what they do everyday can become tiresome, but they were very efficient in their jobs and that's all that matters not looking to make friends just them take care of what needs to be taken care of and they do and did.rnrnAfter care program could be a lil more structured esp for patients who are not in the area. rnI rate Dr. Snow so far a 8 or 10 and i haven't even had surgery yet so who knows he could be a 10!!!

Dr. Snow was the best choice for me. He is kind, caring and sensitive to each patients needs. He has a wonderful staff. I had a lot of complications after surgery and he was there with me every step of the way to make me well again. The only negative I have to say is about the post op classes that were given. I don't feel as though they are informative enough to a patient about what really can happen to you after this surgery. I know that Dr. Snow and his staff are in the process of improving this by asking post op patients their comments and concerns.

Dr. Snow was all smiles and very professional. He told me all the do's and don'ts. The office staff was/is wonderful. If you choose Dr. Snow, he will tell you what he expects and the rest of to the patient. Do as he says, and Your wgt loss will be successful. He has an excellent bedside manner. And a wonderful surgeon. I highly recommend him as your surgeon.

When I first met Dr. Snow I thought that he was going to be a real hard nose person, but he is not he just had a dry sense of humor. To me he had a great bedside manner. I have read that some people didn't like his bedside manner, but I was there for what he knows and what he can do, not a best friend, but he feels like a friend now. His office staff is great and they help in anyway that they can. He has a very good aftercare program. I know that every doctor isn't perfect because there is only one perfect one and he isn't here yet, but he's coming soon.

surgery date: 3/03 - - Dr. Snow and his staff were very professional and helpful to me during this process. I thought I was aware of all the risks of the surgery prior to having it done, but I have later found that there were many more risks and \"side-effects\" from the surgery then I knew about. I do not regret by any means having had the surgery, but I have had quite a few problems as a result of the surgery. (ulcerations, anemia, osteoporosis ((at age 34!!)), screwy sleep patterns, etc).rnrnupdate: 8/06 - - Just checking in to take a look at \"me\" once again. The scale places me at 150 lbs, and I've been very concerned about the weight I've gained. With the anemia and osteoporosis issues I was facing *luckily bone gain regrow at my age*, I began eating more often and foods with high iron, protein, calcium contents if possible. I'm still not eating fries, burgers, chinese, pasta - - CAN'T digest those things at all! My diet is still 1 tuna sandwich with crusts cut off, 10 potato chips; 2 cups of Cookie Crisp with no milk (still cannot tolerate milk); a little fruit, crackers, slice of cheese, 4-5 bites of vegetables. THAT'S IT! That is completely all I can eat in a day. Oh, and I ONLY drink water.....no tea, sodas, nada. I've gained 30 pounds since 11/05, and I'm gonna have to get back on the wagon with exercise I think. This places my BMI at around 29 according to my scale; it's not bad, I know - - just scary to see my weight increase. I won't go crazy over this, but I'm concerned. rn

My first impression was that he seemed down to earth and I immediately felt comfortable. His office staff was very professional and treated me super nice. His nurse Claudia is especially great and doesn't forget a face. There was nothing at all that I disliked about Dr. Snow or his staff. Dr. Snow's office put together a program called Begin Now. They approached Mobile Infirmary with the idea and they liked it. It is required by his office to get wls. You have to meet with a dietician for about 4 hours. They go over nutrition and show you what size bites to take and portions to eat as well as types of food you can eat and things you should avoid. They are very thorough and it helped me a lot to take the class. They also check for any potential problems that may make you more at risk for blood clots. After surgery during your hospital stay, the dietician meets with you again as part of the program. They also meet with you again on your first post-op visit. I think this is a great program and shows that this group of doctors really is concerned about their patients not just during surgery but long term.

This is my experience with Dr. Snow and his staff I will walk you through their program.

First visit is a group meeting disussing the benefits, risks and surgical procedure(laproscopic and open). After the group session you will meet one on one with Dr. Snow to discuss your previous medical history and any concerns you have that were not addressed during the group. You will also meet with the financial specialist who will direct you on how to get the necessary medical records, how much your out of pocket expense will be. Once you receive your approval letter from the insurance company, you can either wait for them to call you or you can call them. Your second visit they schedule you for your surgery; order the pre-op tests and you attend the BEGIN class. During the BEGIN class they perform a light physical activity tolerance test. The dietician discusses your diet after the surgery and you meet with a nurse to go over your medical history again. You must complete this class before Dr. Snow will perform surgery. The next time you see the Dr. is right before they knock you out. During your stay in the hospital you may see him or one of the other surgeons in that same practice. (Surgical Association of Mobile). Expect to stay 3-4 days in the hospital if you have no complications. Then you go for a follow up visit 1 week post surgery ( more or less he only sees GB patients on Monday). Then you follow up as he orders. In my opinion he is the best Dr. in this area to perform GBS. He doesn't get on to you unless you deserve it ie you don't modify your life style after surgery. His staff is always polite and the telephone nurse will answer any questions you have and promptly returns your calls.
