I am now 59 years old and I have been overweight since I was four. My top weight was 435lbs.I was slowly dying and I was miserable. My health was in trouble. I had diabetes, high blood pressure, had back and knee surgery and came from a obese family. I went to one of Dr. Schmitt's seminars and this made it clear weight loss surgery was for me. On May 31st 2009 I had gastric bypass. I got down quickly to 232lbs and went from a size 6X to a size 16. I had not been that small since high school. I have lost a total of 160 lbs and I feel great. I am on no medications or my insulin. I only regret that I didnt do the surgery sooner.

I had struggles with my weight my whole adult life. I tried many diets and none of them seemed to work. I decided to have gastric bypass a year ago. I have lost 90 pounds so far and I am off many of my medications. Dr. Schmitt is very compassionate and very professional. You can tell that he cares alot for his patients.

LIke may others I had gotten uncomfortable going out in public. It was a job just tying my shoes. The day I got out of the hospital, I did not have to have diabetic medicine anymore. I feel I made the right choice. Everyone was so helpful. The program is wonderful and I couldnt have asked for a better surgeon.

I've been on diets as long as I can remember. Through the years, however, I kept getting larger than years before. Food was the center and focus of my every thought and it never ended. I had just about given up hope that life could be different or could be normal. When I came to the first seminar and heard Dr. Schmitt speak, I was convinced that I would be safe in his care. Because of his personal experience with obesity, I felt he understood the problem I faced with food and not just snuffing us patients through the surgery line. This is the best thing I've ever done for myself. I felt like a different person immediately. Best of all, I'm still losing and feel normal maybe for the first time in my life.

I have been overweight since early childhood. It has been a lifelong struggle. I was unable to control it longterm with diet and exercise. Dr. Schmitt did a great job. He kept me very informed and all answered all of my questions. I am six month post op sleeve gastrectomy and I am doing great.

I am a 70 year old male and I was morbidly obese at a weight of 305 pounds. I am at the office today for my three month visit and I weight 255 pounds. I am able to return to fishing and other activities that I enjoy. I am looking forward to losing more weight and work up to walking one hour a day. Dr. Lee Schmitt is an excellent surgeon and informed of the process the whole time and answered all of my questions and concerns about the surgery. I have total confidence in his instructions and guidance. I am so glad I had the surgery. It changed my life.

Dr. Schmitt is a very professional and excellent surgeon. I just had my surgery on Oct. 19th. But as far as my preparation, surgery and stay in the hospital ... it all rates A+. Dr. Schmitt has an excellent staff and support team that stays on top of everything and He and his staff are very quick to get back to you if you call or email. Dr. Schmitt will make sure you are mentally and physically prepared for your procedure. If I had to do it all over again I would in a heart beat with Dr. Schmitt and his loving staff and the Support team at St. Vincents East. Esp. (veronica) :) she is the best Bariatric Coordinator ever !!! Hope this helps

I was on approx. 15 prescription drugs and weighed 280 lbs. I had difficulty with mobility, was depressed and I rarely left my home. I was desperate to do something about my weight. dr. Schmitt was encouraging and supportive. I had no problems during or after surgery. I am now on six prescriptions and hope to drop some of those with my additional weight loss. I am a year out from laprascopic gastric bypass and I feel great.
