Sawicki was okay that I remember of him. I only saw him once two-weeks post-op in May of 2002. At that last appointment, Sawicki informed me (and I'm paraphrasing) I was Kaiser's problem from then on. From what I hear, patients are handled differently than before.

Seemingly understanding and supportive of me having surgery.

After he took the staples out he just sent me on my way.

Like any other Dr's office.

Not involved enough, I felt.

Just another surgeon. Did not expect any more of him.

Very very little. Stressed the need to keep up with my own Dr.

No!

Compared the risks of surgery with the risks of remaining obese.

Pretty good, as a surgeon.

Both were pretty good. He had a very nice, warm, bedside manner. I felt him to be a very competant surgeon.

Dr. Sawicki was excellent very imformative and straight to the point. The office at UCLA is extremely busy but be persistant and you will get in. His office staff was excellent especially Gideon. I had no other complaints pertaining to UCLA and I would recommend them to anyone seeking surgery in the Los Angeles area. I also would tell anyone seeking surgery to listen to the doctor's rules and plans for their future health. I have had no side effects or health problems since surgery. I completely paid attention to the nutritionists and everything was perfect. I can eat all types of food without dumping. They recommend that you don't eat sugar the funny thing is I know longer crave sugar and I swear ice cream was my best friend in my past life.

good impression, didn't change over time.
Only saw him 2 times after surgery. Office staff at that time (5 1/2 yrs ago) was good.
Had no dislikes about him and he seemed caring and concerned. There was no structured aftercare program in place at that time. I had a list of questions and risks and he seemed to give appropriate and truthful answers. I would give him a good rating from my recall. Would give him a good rating on his skills and bedside manner :))

I met Doctor Sawicki after my approval and referral from Kaiser Permanente on August 14, 2003.

I found Doctor Sawicki to be very upbeat and positive, with an exceptional attitude towards his patients, and with a great, approachable personality. He takes the time to really listen to your concerns, and clarifies everything regarding the procedure and the potential risks.

Doctor Sawicki made me feel ten times better about having the surgery, and my comfort level is much better than before. I feel confident that I am in very good hands.

His office staff are very pleasant and warm, with nice smiles and a very friendly attitude.

While I personally believe that surgical competence is more important than a good bedside manner, I am fortunate as it seems that Doctor Sawicki excels in both areas.

THE ONLY NEGATIVE COMMENT THAT I CAN MAKE has to do with the actual appointment scheduling. With Doctor Sawicki's hectic schedule, he can only see patients on Thursdays. My appointment, which I had waited months for, was originally scheduled for July 3rd, and only on that very morning did I receive a letter in the mail explaining that I had to be rescheduled to July 17th. On July 17th, I arrived and I was checking in, when at that very instance, I had to be once again rescheduled for August 14th. Now, mind you, this is a 120-mile trip each way, and I was more than negative at the time.

As I was getting settled in the examination room on 8/14 after having checked in, as a little joke the nurse said "Guess what - we have to reschedule you!" - - and we both had a really nice chuckle. Again, that staff is just terrific - and very funny, too!

My first impression of Dr. Sawicki was cool. He seemed like he could feel my concerns and was basically answering my questions before I got them out of my mouth. He was very clear with the risks having this surgery could bring. He told me about the one patient he lost. The people who were in the waiting room also spoke highly of him. The office staff was very caring and professional. I am excited to know his bedside manners (I haven't had my surgery yet). I know he'll give me exactly what I need!

My first impression of Dr. Sawicki was that he was very detail oriented, personable, and very much concerned with the best interest of his patients. He went over every aspect of the suregry, and all the risks involved, also making sure I understood everything. I would recommend Dr. Sawicki to others, because I feel he is a excellent surgeon. His office staff was very professional and friendly.

I come from a medical family as my own father is a general surgeon.

I was very impressed with Dr. Sawicki. He was extremily thourogh in my first consultation spending a great deal of time explaining the surgery, answering my husband and my questions and explaining the risks involved.

UCLA is a huge organizaion. Nothing gets done fast there...accept it as the bad along with the good.

After surgery I had lung complications and I was as was my entire family extreemly impressed with the immediate action taken by the "team" that formed for my problems. There was no wait and see attitutde. He believes is cutting trouble off at the pass. I ended up in ICU for 3 days while my lungs healed.

His after care program is well structured, of course it is at UCLA and you deal with the crazyness of that.

I had a great experience with this doctor and would recomened him highly.

I had initial consult last February for a May 2002 surgery date. He was very informative and friendly. Unfortunately I broke my leg in March and had to postpone my surgery until the fall. I had complications with the leg and had to postpone again until March 2003. My orthopedic surgeon made the decision that I should go ahead with the surgery since it will help my leg if I lose the weight. I phone Dr. Sawicki to consult with him and he returned my call the next day, was very cooperative in getting me a re-consult so that I could go ahead with the surgery in March, as planned. I have yet to have that consult, but my experience with Dr. S. has been very positive so far.
